LOL, You kill me man.

With my AS&M headers, I'm now sure I can even get my starter out anymore.

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

Almost makes me wish my stock starter would die just so I can get one of those puppies. Kind of hard to justify replacing a part that works fine though for a new one that doesnt add any hp.

Well, it does add torque....in a way....right?

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

I'll be switching over from the lt1 to lt4 to save some space under there and route stuff easier... but it sounds different? Didnt know that one. Hmmm

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

You also might want to consider the CVR ProTorque starter. Similar to the LT4, priced about the same, and has a body that can be rotated to about 8 different positions to clear headers.

Do you have the part number for the CVR starter? I did find one for $199, pn#CVR-5323L. Not sure if that's the one you're referring to.
Thanks!

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

I thought LT1s already used a gear reduction starter. I know my Caprice does not and it is MUCH heavier than my Z28's starter. The one or two pound difference is due to it simply being a different starter (I think Nippondenso maybe) rather than direct drive vs gear reduction. And yes, I've heard the LT4 starter before (on Caprices) and it has a very smooth whirring sound that's kind of exotic.

I'll check the part #.... I got it from JEG's about 4 years ago, for $150.

I'm pretty happy with my Summit ProTorque starter (#sum-820323). I notice the Z turns over alot quicker, pretty noticeable.

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

How did the install go on this? Did it fit the same or did you have to modify something. I am having trouble with my install, it seems to be to small for the hole the old LT1 starter used to fit in.

Re: LT4 Starter is sweet!!

I read a post sometime in the past. They said that the LT4 starter was interfering with their SLP headers.

I have SLP single cat mid length headers on my 95 M6.

I was wondering if anyone else was using the LT4 with SLP headers?
