LT4 Hot Cam vs. XE224/230
get the 502 cam and dont worry about smog.i Had the 503 cam in my stroker and i must say it was a torque monster but that was with ported heads programmed computer the whole shabang. Remember higher duration= better breathing up top. The stock heads dont breathe too well above 6000 anyways so why go with the biggest cam when the 502 will get you there??sure youll gain a LITTLE bit more HP with a big cam on stock heads but youll lose a LITTLE bit everywhere else too,so its basically a wash, get the 502 and end your worries about smog and have a VERY capable car with stock heads. JMHO
This post is very interesting. Just to give you guys an idea, I have the 218/230 cam on a 113 lobe seperation which is basically a hybrid of the 502/503. I put down 377rwhp/352tq with ported heads, LT's and the usual mods. Check out the sig for the dyno graph. Hope this helps.
