LT1 PCM drive cycle?

just wondering about how long the LT1's PCM drive cycle is? i have to get emissions and i just recently got my PCM reprogrammed by madz28.com ... i've driven it about ~80 miles (i think) but i dunno if its supposed to be on yet or not... i took it into emissions and the report said my OBD2 PCM settings 'werent ready'

ideas?

thanks!

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

With 80 miles of normal driving you should have reset any I/M readiness issues with the computer. I live in texas so I don't know if Georgia has the same emissions testing software but we are allowed two not readys on our test. It looks like you have deleted your 2ndary air by your sig. This will most likely give you I/M not readys on 2nd air system, Catalyst & possibly a rear o2. So depending on what mad z did to your computer that could also cause some additional not readys. You are probably SOL with your current configuration. Good Luck!

Lane,
do you know which of the parameters showed as "not ready"?

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

well, on the emissions inspection report says 'OBD Readiness' test failed. Everything else passed but that.

peace

-oh yeah i also have rear o2 simulators

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

The rear O2 sims are most likely causing your failure. I had the same problem. You will have 4 not readys by using o2 sims, 2nd air system, catalyst, rear02, o2 heater if I remember correctly from mine. The rear o2 simms work to keep the MIL light off but will not fool the I/M readiness feature that the emissions looks for. I finally had to add removable cats and install the rear 02's to pass. Hope that helps if you find another way around the problem let me know. Good Luck. Maybe Mad z has some tricks up his sleeve.

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

well, i have 2 rear o2 sims, and i converted to a single cat high flow setup. I'm not throwing any codes at alll. Do you think it'd be possible to run the o2 sims and put my AIR pump back in there temporarily? i still have the air pump hehe

ideas? thanks!

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

Don't get the obdii readiness and the ses light mixed up. The 02 simms will keep the ses light off but the obdii readiness feature will never return to ready, it simply stays not ready which keeps the ses light off but won't allow you to pass emissions. Since you do have a cat you might try putting the rear 02's back in behind your single cat and see if that will let it pass. Or hope that madz has some other way around the readiness issue. If he does I will certainly send him my computer.

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

thanks for the info - a friend of mine who works at an emissions station around here has visually confirmed that o2 simulators are good for passing emissions so i guess ill know within the next 100 miles if i've yet completed the drive cycle or not. If anyone else has any information or suggestions I'd love to hear them!

thanks!

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

I had the PCM readiness problem. I ran the car for over a week and it would not complete the tests. The only, the only, the only solution was to install the stock program and *****-foot the car to the inspector. The car ran its tests and passed. The car ran crappy, but it didn't set any codes because I babied it. After I got my cert, I just reloaded the good running program and I am done for two years.

I am lucky that I pulled out my HotCam and put in a very mild cc304 for my supercharger.

That's just the way it is. You should be able to squeak by with two of the tests showing incomplete. If you have autotap that helps a lot.

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

hrmm... so the obd readiness will never come on? would it be possible just to plug in the rear o2 sensors and hang them on/over the catalytic convertor?

thanks

Re: LT1 PCM drive cycle?

I have the same problem in NJ. I have "not ready"s for each of the same sensors. I called my programmer and he told me to ship the PCM back to him. THis blows. I was told the drive cycle would not work. By the way, the GM OBDII drive cycle sounds like some sort of slalom course from hell. I wouldn't be able to do that on the streets of NJ even if it would work.
