LT1 crank question

I asked this in the lt1 tech forum but to no avail

what are the hp ratings for the following cranks:

cast 3.48

4130 steel 3.48

4340 steel 3.48

just wondering because hopefully I will be able to start my 355 soon and I need to know if I will need a certain crank to handle a blower and nos

Re: LT1 crank question

Each part manufacturor would probably have a "HP rating" for their own parts, so I would check with the them directly rather than just assign a blanket rating for a particular grade of steel...

To be frank, I would rule out anything but a non-twist 4340 forging for a crank going into a dual power adder engine.

Re: LT1 crank question

thank you for the reply, so the 4340 eagle crank from jegs should be fine right?

Re: LT1 crank question

I don't like eagle products, every single crank we have gotten from them has been out of spec. Scat's are better, but still, with motor like that I would only trust a callies crank for that price range.

I agree, if you are going with dual power adders you need to be serious about your bottom end. I would say Callies or Cola.

You didn't get an answer because there is no answer to the question you asked. The first response you got here explained it pretty well.

As a general rule, if it has "LT1" in the topic, it belongs on "LT1 Engine Tech".

Re: LT1 crank question

I would have to say I'm happiest with Scat cranks. The Callies I have used measure out perfect but I have to get more sets of bearings to get the main clearances right, which makes me pissed... buying one set of X bearings to get the rear main clearance right. Eagle doesn't do bad stuff for the money, it's still stronger than the block. Either way you have to keep an eye on the clearances anyways.
