LT1 Alternator Relocation Bracket is DONE FINALLY
I'm going to end it like this. Its a great set-up and great job on behalf of the designers and guinea pigs. I am glad that we now have a new piece of gear for the LT1 and I hope that people continue to produce new parts for the LT1, no matter the cost.

Does it take a different belt?
Great idea! I asked about such a thing in a thread about the A/C delete pulley that moved the alternator down, and most people said there was "no need."
I think this thread shows that people do want such a thing, for the reasons previously mentioned.

As for the wiring, I am actually working on a extension kit. When I actually install mine on my motor I will create a extension for it that is plug and play, at least that is the hope anyway. I figure to route the wires around the back side of the engine on the drivers side harness line of wires. If all goes well you will be able to pick one of these up as well if you want it. Otherwise you can choose to lengthen the wires yourself.
Thanks for the kind words and the opinions guys. Everyone is entitled to them, and I love to see them happen.

Q
How messed up is it that some of you tihnk cost to produce should equal retail selling price?
Ever heard of overhead and profit? While Q is not making money from these, the shop that is producing them DOES have to make a profit. Otherwise what's the point? I am sure they aren't doing these just for practice. Overhead is the next thing. Electricity and other utilities, machine tooling, expendables, maintenance, shop insurance, employee insurance and benefits, not to mention hourly wage, the machines themself that produce these, time spent on the phone ordering, time spent checking orders in, time spent packing and shipping these, time spent developing and maintiaing an online ordering system, etc. there are SO many costs associated with doing business and people just don't get it. Sure you could hack one out in the garage possibly for less cost in materials, but what is your time worth? Would you work for free for ANYBODY running a business? Then your time is worth something.
I have to argue this point every now and then with customers, insurance adjusters, etc. In my line of work, I deal with insurance companies daily. you know what they give us for markup on thing? 10% profit and 10% for overhead. That's IT. And it doesn't come CLOSE to covering what it's name implies. Hell, even if it did, that immediately drops the intake $$ from the relocation bracket to $160. Take out the price of the pulley and all the hardware that's included. Take out the price of the aluminum (have you seen raw material prices lately?). Keep in mind you can't go buy the aluminum that size. you buy it in big sheets and cutout everything that's NOT the bracket. That's a LOT of waste that you are paying for. Take out time spent on the CNC to cut them out.
I'v designed and marketed several products for companies all over the world. Let me tell you, some of the stuff you guys are saying here is pretty ****ed up. Especially ZZ Top. To ZZ, are you one of those who just burned a copy of the F-Body drag game that JasonD here designed? Just because "CDs are cheap, why should I pay for the game"
**** like this makes me lose that much more faith in you guys.

I got mine installed this afternoon, pictures can be seen here. .
There were a few problems that I encountered:
I haven't re-ran the electrical wires yet.
Q, if I get another belt will I get reimbursed for it or should I contact IWIN and have them send me the next longer size?
There were a few problems that I encountered:
- Belt was too short to work with my air conditioning compressor, from the picture it looked like Q had removed his and had a pulley in it's place. The pulley he had is smaller in diameter than the actual compressor pulley.
- The OPTI vent lines are in the way, but can be pulled out of the way.
- There isn't much room for the plug wires, and they come real close to rubbing on the alternator fan blades. But if they are tied up out of the way to the bracket, they should be fine.
- You MUST install this from the bottom. Luckily I had my car up on jackstands already.
- The alternator barely fit in there with the sway bar connected because it was hitting on the sway bar and on the fan motor.
I haven't re-ran the electrical wires yet.

Nice pics BTW....thanks.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Kurt, and he said he is totally behind you here Chad. Take a measurement of your pulley route and take it to NAPA. See if they will exchange the belt, if they will not he will reimburse you 100% for the cost of the belt you need.
I did figure out what happened, and it is actually something I expected. My motor pulley route is setup with a underdrive pulley on the Alternator. That was the route that was measured for the belt. Your probably has the factory pulley on it, thus making it larger, and the belt wont fit. When these are first ordered with a different setup then I have we are going to have to measure to fit the belts. There are only so many combinations of stock or underdrive pulley setups, so given a few trys we will have them all identified for future sales. At least we will know the standard and underdrive pulley length on a alternator now
I believe this also will answer WS Sick's question as to if he can use the setup. Yes you can, but we will need to identify the belt size for your application.
I also mirrored the pictures to my site to make it easier to view them. You can view all of them here. -------------->

Anyone else who has questions or opionions, please feel free to voice them. Personally I think it is COOL

Awesome to hear Chad. Thank you for taking the time to figure that one out. So what about the instructions, how were they. How idiot proof is the setup? I havent even picked mine up yet. I dont need it for 3 weeks
Did you run it yet with the belt on???

The instructions were pretty good. The pictures were very helpful. On my car when the AIR pump was removed the bracket was still on there, so I had to remove that to put the new bracket on. I haven't started the car yet, as I have to extend the wires. But it looks like the alignment is pretty good. The biggest problem was actually getting the alternator into position because of the sway bar and the cooling fan motor. But it does squeeze in there.
I did find out that I have both a front and rear main oil seal leak.
The worst part is I just replaced the rear main seal when I had the tranny and clutch out last fall.
