I personally dont think it is over priced. You are paying 199.00 for a bracket that deletes the AC. This one keeps it. The aluminum plates in this one are 3/4 inch on the lower and 1/2 inch on the upper bracket. All bolts are included, as well as the aluminum spacers. I mean does it really cost 399.00 for the LTCC, or 175 dollars for a ET Street, or even 5000 dollars for a Turbo kit? Of course not, but quality counts, and that is what this kit was designed around. I wanted something for my car that looked as pretty as my car. When I lifted the hood I wanted people to Ohhh and Ahhh over what they seen, and this bracket had to add to that, not take away from it So like I said before, it all comes down to what YOU consider resonable costs.

I understand what you are saying, but to me it seems a little high. I mean the A/C delete pulley is $35. That's all this is and a bracket for mounting the alternator. The reason it is so high priced is because hardly anybody sells or buys them. It is an awesome idea, but I think I may wait some for the price to come down a bit or buy one used. That is just MY opinion.

It is an awesome mod though and one that I would love to do, but not at that cost

I believe what he is trying to say is that he had to pay for the research and development, as well as the actual product, that is why it costs $200. I definitely plan on getting one once I get the body work finished on my car.

Have you ever looked at the ac delete pulley and bracket? It's a POS....I think that is a very very fair price. You don't buy an LT1 because you think the parts will be cheap....do you? If you did I would sell it ASAP as none of the parts are cheap.

I personally think the price is outrageous, but I would love for some one to buy one and take some detailed pics and dimensions, so I could go down in the shop and make my own. Probably could make it for under 50 bucks

To the guy who mentioned hwo expensive LT1 parts are, yes they are very expensive. The reason being is that the typical LT1 owner has no problem paying it, for whatever reason good or bad, but some of us cant stand to pay crazy prices for things. In my opinion I think 80-100 dollars is reasonable. A shop mass producing them can make them for well under 50 dollars, so they will recoop R&D in no time and start making a profit. At 80-100$ these things would sell like Hot Cakes!

They will never "mass produce" these. You have to remember...how many people own a 4th gen....and how many would actually have a need for this.

Exactly, they will never be mass produced. Myself or any of those that helped make it dont have the extra scratch laying around to buy 3000 of these, not that 3000 would ever sell anyway. I am not going to argue the finer points of the costs of this bracket. I am simply saying that it is available, and I hope those that buy it enjoy it as much as I will. This is the reason MY OWN car isnt done yet. My motor and cradle had to sit at the shop for the fitment part for the better part of two months. I also wouldnt try any type of copies like you suggested. I believe the patent is pending

Dreamer, I'll be looking for pics of this setup installed. It looks like you've done a nice job.
To everyone who thinks the price is "outrageous", what are you waiting for? Get out in the garage and start cranking 'em out! All you need is to be able to steal the design and dimensions that he spent a bunch of time to develop like "ZZTop" suggested and you can get to work cranking them out for half his price with all of the mounting hardware included and making a profit too! Of course they are going to be as good as Dreamer's, in design, materials, construction and finish, right? Sounds like you can't miss!

There's no need to be a smartass. I do not condone stealing designs and I could care less about making a profit off this product. My point is simply that when a company produces an item from scratch they project that they will earn the development money back over a period of time. In no way can day to day production cost be $200 a pop for them to make a profit. This being of course after they have earned there R & D money back. I could argue this unitl I'm blue in the face, but it will get me nowhere. I'm sure I'll end up forking over the money in the long run because I hate the alternator and would love to hide it out of the way.

Please do not make it look like I am trying to take anything away from the designers, because I am not. They have an awesome product and a new found monopoly over the market. Good for them, thats what every business strives for. But my arguement comes from a consumers standpoint and not the manufacturer's.

Do the two stock electrical connections to the alt. still reach in its new position?

Does it take a different belt?

Great idea! I asked about such a thing in a thread about the A/C delete pulley that moved the alternator down, and most people said there was "no need."

I think this thread shows that people do want such a thing, for the reasons previously mentioned.

Just a side note, but you guys who think that LT1's are expensive cars to mod have not looked into other nicer vehicles and modifications. Yeah, maybe a mustang 5.0L can be made faster for cheaper, but as far as HP per dollar, the LT1 is close to the top of the pack especially when you factor in the cheap prices of these cars.

Heck, just look at the LS1 guys and you can see a difference in spending between them and LT1 guys. Here, people don't want to spend $1,500 on a rotating assembly and will often substitute cast pistons/cranks for forged pieces to save $200 for a 383 whereas there (LS1) they will spend over $3,000 or more not to mention block work.

LT1 guys don't like spending $1,200 on a set of Z06 replicas whereas LS1 guys often don't mind dropping $2,500-3,000 on a nice set of Fikse's, iForged, or HRE wheels not including tires.

Compare to corvettes and the discrepancy is larger.

Compare to imports such as BMW's, etc and descrepancy is even larger.

Compare to supercars such as Viper, etc, the descrepancy is even larger yet.

I realize that everyone has their own budget, but honestly, you really can't get a better deal than what LT1's are at right now.

That being said, I still get a little irritated thinking how much I spent on my ported AFR 220's....but I also wasn't willing to compromise power with a cheaper cylinder head either...so goes the cliche...'ya gotta pay if you wanna play.

Any business should know that the invested money in a project should be considered expendable and expected to be made back over time. They need to take a cut and let quantity sold pay for the project, not high prices. Althought they will have a monopoly until other people pick up on the design.
Scoobysnax, have you ever had short run production machine work done? Or tried to market and sell your own product? You have no idea what their break even point will be or what their profit margin will be. Considering how few of these they are likely to sell $200 is probably a very fair price. This guy went to the effort and expense to design and make these complete kits with no guarantee that he would sell even one.
If you don't like the price, don't buy it. The seller can choose to sell his product for any price he likes. That's called free enterprise.
