GMPP LS1 crate engine rates@345 hp.

With manifolds, less a/c, all other accesories intact, through 2 1/2 flowmaster exhaust, 402hp/398tq on Kenny Duttweilers Dyno.

Re: Ls1 to Lt1 battle

alot of headaches that could easily be avoided by sticking with the LT1 and building it or selling the 96 and getting a 98+ Z28. If you are asking for the fact of having the LT1 camaro look but the LS1 motor, it'd still be easier to just buy the 98+ Z and just swap front clips rather than entire powertrains.

But LS1's are newer and easier to work on LT1 biach

And my dad can beat up your dad

My plans for this summer now that I have some money:

Jet Hot headers with catted Y $1200

Suspension upgrades like SFC, LCA, ect $500

AFR 205 heads $2,200

F13 cam with all other necassary upgrades $1000

You arn't lying about LS1 mods being more expensive. That's one steep order right there. Not to mention that after a few track passes my 4l60e should crap out and I can add 3-4k for a tranny upgrade next spring.

But I still wouldn't trade it for a LT1. 03/04 Cobra I might consider but then I'd have to join the mustang crowd whom I have grown to hate

Actually there not...for instance take the 3 basics...air intake, catback, and headers...hands down ls1 headers are cheaper and more variety, lids are cheaper then cai's and catbacks are generally the same. They also have reasonable heads companies..Since neither engine is made anymore in production both are cheap to mod.Plus for the guys that dont do there own work the LS1 is much easier to work on hence a lower labor price

Very true. I have around 1000 In my car. Bought all the parts and the labor was all me.

They best way to do an LS-1 swap, it to take your car to the Dealer and trade it in for an LS-1.

I wouldn't swap in an LS-1 because I thought my LT-1 was slow. If that's your reason, then you'll be just as dissapointed with the LS-1. You'd get better results from "Modding" your car.

not doubting you or what you saw or anything, but Kenny Duttweilers Dyno needs to have it's head examined, or that "crate" motor was not a standard LS1. 402 hp is LS6 territory.

GMHTP, SLP and most other dynos show factory LS1s much lower 270-305 RWHP (310-345 crank) depending on year, and tranny.

there are some cool and smart LS1 guys, but i love how some of the "other" LS1 guys downplay the LS2 now making it out to be "nothing i can't keep up with" classic denial as the LS1's prime is now in the past, just like the LT1 and others before it.

Denial? Its an LSX engine. All LSx engines share the same technology. They are all the same base design. I havent heard one LS1 person complain about the LS2. I'd love to have one. I havent heard anyone,Not 1 LS1 owner, whine about it having more HP or even deny it.

Liter per liter is an=engine.

you need to re-read some previous posts in the thread more closely and see what myself an others have noted about certain LS1 folk trying to make the LS1 sound equal to an LS2, and/or make the LS2 sound less than it is.

dont do it. old neighbor had a afr's and full long tube exhaust on a 5.0 and ran high 13's. the 03/04 cobra at the local track is only running low 13's high 12's. sure a 12 second quarter is a respectable time but for 30K?? unless you really like the pony car i cant understand why anyone would take the mustang over the f body.

If your referring to me then you need to reread what I wrote. I said I was disappointed with LS2 times. That means I expected high 11's and thought it sucked when they were not hitting them (at least the GTO's are not). But the point is I WANTED them to do better. But they still get better times then the LS1 and I for one never said otherwise.

You need to reread some previous posts here and see how a few LT1 guys are still angry that the LS1 was created. Are you one of them?
