Smokn '94 Z - Do you have any weight reduction, I know you said you weighed in at 3600 w/driver, what have you taken out if anything.

I would like to drop some weight from the car, but don't want it to be what some people call "gutted"

Thinking about removing AC since it isn't working anyway, backseats & seatbelts, possibly bumper supports.

My only weight reduction is from the removal of the Passenger seat, Rear seats & Spare tire,jack... That saved me around 90#'s. That is about the extent of the weight reduction I want. Like you said, I don't want to gut the car. I can still take the wife out on a nice date with the car...

LT4 heads intake and Hotcam are a dyno proven 425+Hp
a 107 trap speed even at 3600 pounds in no were near 425 horse

there is alot more in the tuning

i have a 94 LT1 shortblock
LT4 heads with 2.02 1.60 valves
a cam neraly identical to the HC (like in everyway, LSA, IC, INT,EXH, DUR, LIFT, OL
carbed LT4 intake
650 MS carb

and it put 389 ponies to the ground..15% parasitic loss and thats 456 HP

Those numbers arnt that bad for a hotcam 383. Get some dyno tuning done and you should pic up a few mph.

I'd get it dyno tuned. That could be the extent of your problems. I kind of got lucky with my tune I guess, but I still think I could get more with a dyno tune. So Smokn '94Z, is that the best way to get low 60ft times?? I was told to stall to about 1,000 or 1,200 rpm's then mash it. But, I only pulled 1.75 on my best motor run. It's a vig 3600 nitrous ready stall, and I was told that it wouldnt hit 3600 unless I sprayed off the line. I was thinking it just wasnt stalling high enough, but maybe my technique was wrong. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey, formula383, here is some specs on my car, maybe this will help you out some.

95 Z/28, HOTcam kit, homeported LT1 heads w/ 2.00x1.56 valves, K&N intake, Meziere waterpump, SLP midlengths, off road Ypipe, flowmaster catback, 2800 rpm 9.5" midwest stall, B&M shift kit. Stock MAF, stock TB, Stock gears. PCMforless mail order tune.

Best 1/8- 8.1, best mph- 86.9. That is at one of the crappiest tracks around here. I noticed my MPH was a bit higher than yours in the 1/8. I don't have any quarter times, sorry.

Are your LT4 heads stock? Any clean up/port work?

John

Yes it is. I to used to only stall it up to around 1500 - 1800 rpm. Then my buddy said stall it higher & bam!! 1.61 60's all day!!! I stall mine to about 2200 - 2500 or right before I blow through the brakes....

Hey formula383..........i might have missed it but has anybody clarified if you got just the hotcam or the kit that comes with the springs and RR's.........if you got just the cam then that might be where you are losing the couple MPH.....those rr's help alot. Just a thought.

My LT4 heads are stock, no work at all to them.

I do have the 1.6 RR's.

Do you think the electric water pump would help at all, what about removing the AC since it doesn't work anyway?

Thanks for all the replies guys, Keep them coming.

Make me some suggestions of more boltons to help it out a little.

Meziere pump and removing the AC via a delete pulley might get you another 10-15 horsepower. If the AC doesn't work and you have no plans for fixing it, chunk it.

I don't think I will fix the AC, I didn't have the AC all summer and it didn't bother me at all.

I think it's on the low side. My best MPH run was 13.1 @ 107 stock heads and cam, but 1.6RR. Maybe you need a better tune, or less weight. You should get those heads ported.

I have not read the whole post but wanted to say that my combo with the A4/ST3500 would only run 12.3s at 108 and 109 being the highest I have seen it run.

I plan on running the 1/4 finally after alot of changes and hope I break the 12.0 mark and the 110MPH mark, will find out Friday if the weather is good.

And the LT4 set up is an honest 425FWHP, the numbers that are quoated are Flywheel, i pull 340 thru the the 3600 stall and TH350 so I honestly think the FWHP has got to be in the 425 range. And that is with the stock PE tables rich as crap...
