94formulabz, I'm not sure of the altitude but the run was made in Bristol Tennessee at the Bristol Bash.

Hey formula383, thanks for including me in your fast hotcam cars list . Sounds like a strange problem. What rpm is your tranny shifting at? Also, is it a good thing to compare the way a stock lt1 responds to a hotcam, versus a 383? Still the mph is down, I hope you find out what it is. These cars can be such a pain sometimes.

The tranny shifts at 6300 - 6400. Also, the Z28 is stock bottom end 350. My old car which was a Formula had a 383 in it.

By the Way, Sweetred95TA have you made it back to the track to try for that 10 second pass yet.

I don't have an auto but that shift point sounds pretty high to me. On my best run recently (below) I was shifting at 5900rpm with the hotcam and stock heads. I would think you would see some better times and mph with a lower shift point.

According to my stock tach I have best results shifting my hotcam with stock heads at about 6100-6200.

Not sure if that is what it is actually turning but that is what the stock tach shows. I just got Brian at PCMFORLESS to do the program for the car. I will email him and find out what it is suppose to shift at.

Wow that was a quick reply after 3 minutes Brian emailed me back and the car is programmed to shift at 6000-6100.

I never got back to the track. The weather got too $hitty and the track kept closing. Looks like I'll have to wait til next year.

Yeah I understand what you mean about the weather, the track here is open until the first week of December but I doubt I will get to go back this year.

I would like to give it one more try in cooler weather, at at the track I normally run at. I got a 12.7 @ 107 at Bristol and the track I normally run at is usually around 2 tenths quicker.

if you wait until next year we will probably be trying for that quick pass around the same time. I will be adding nitrous this winter and will be ready to go when racing season comes back around.

GREGG 97Z, I just posted the bigger mods on my sig, here are the others: K&N CAI, Trick Flow Elbow, MSD6A, Taylor OTVC Wires, Autolite 104's,

I still have stock tb, injectors, maf (not even ported ends)

Also, I just had my trans rebuilt a few months ago, all parts from Art Carr, so I don't think it is slipping, not yet anyway.

FastWhiteTA, I think the mph is low, I am of course comparing it to some of the faster hot cam cars on here, Ken95Z28 (not hot cam anymore though), Sweetred95ta, etc...

I thought someone might know something that may be causing me some issues.

Here is the entire slip to see if you think there is a drop and any certain range.
60ft. 1.76
330ft. 5.208
1/8 8.110
1/8 mph 83.87
1000ft 10.64
1/4 12.777
1/4 mph 107.02
What kind of tire you running? Your #'s are pretty reasonable. With basically the same major mods that you have I ran 12.30 @ 110.34 mph on a 1.64 60'. That was with a Vig3200 Hot Cam & 3.73s on stock heads. However that was on a very cold day with a very low DA. I averaged 12.30 - 12.40 with consistant 1.64 60' on warmer days but only averaged around 108 - 109 mph. So I really don't see a problem with your times or mph. You do need to get that 60' into the sub 1.6's. It can & should. Stall that converter up until you start pushing through your brakes. It will hit nice & hard. I too have wondered why some similar cars with similar mods are running better times then me but then I see all the others with similar mods running a lot slower than me too. I just assume that I have an average performing LT1. No freek for me like most.
Good Luck

All of my passes were made on Nitto's 275/40/17's

I have pulled a 1.69 but then it wouldn't shift out of 1st.

The more that reply to this I might not have a problem, maybe I was just thinking that because I was comparing it to some of the freak HOT CAM cars. I would be very happy if I could get the car down to low 12's on motor. I guess I will just have to try some different things to get it there.

So so you think a dyno tune by Carolina Auto Masters would be worth it over my pcmforless tune?

The car is full weight with the exception of the spare and jack being removed.

My car is 3600# with driver on those passes. A dyno tune is always an honest way to go....
