Lost oil pressure while datalogging
Lost oil pressure while datalogging
Guys I need to know what to check other than bearings. What else would cause a pressure loss. Im not talking about no pressure at all. I was making a couple of WOT blasts to get some data and I let out of it and shifted into 6th and was cruising. I got up to my turn and went to push in the clutch and felt grinding through the pedal. I made my turn with the clutch in and it stalled on me. Wouldn't restart so I popped the clutch and it started; but I saw that I had no pressure so I shut it back off.
This is what I know right now. There is the normal oil level in the pan and until this my pressure was great, 15-20 psi at idle. Motor has about 10-15k miles on the latest stroker. The oil pickup was tacked on when installing so Im pretty sure it didnt fall off. My first thought would be to check the oil pump driveshaft. But I dont think I'm that lucky

Well I just restrated the engine and I had oil pressure but it was very low, just above the red mark and the engine sounded horrible. Sounded like loose bolts rattling around.

Get a big funnel, and put a coffee filter in it. Then drain the oil through that. See if there is any metal glitter in it. If so, you know it's a bearing somewhere.

Yeah I got that sick feeling in my stomach when it happened so I figured as much. I'll check the oil this weekend and see what's that tells me.
