Theres no hard proof in thos links just urban legends. Who knows if those springs were installed properly, or if they were a match for the components being used. 918's are popular and used in allot of applicaitons. For them to break on a few people I wouldn't be surprused. Who knows how these guys are running thier cars. And where is the proof of comp switching suppliers etc etc. Just not enough hard evidence.

Oh yeah and the set that broke on a set of LE2 heads must have been set up wrong even though Lloyd sets each spring up at the right installed height.
I have used a lot of Comp products over the years and am becoming disenchanted. For one thing, their prices are getting out of line with their direct competitors, without any apparent improvement (an maybe a falling off) of quality. But starting to source the stuff outside the US might just push me over the edge. Poltics aside, I recognize it is possible to produce high quality stuff in low wage areas. But you have to have a very careful inspection program, reliable people on site, etc. It is starting to appear that Comp is not doing that. The 918 springs and the HR lifters seem like two major screwups that just should not happen to a big manufacturer charging premium prices.
I think I am going to switch to Crower and Manley for most of my stuff.

Anyone with Comp 918's better check them ASAP.
A fellow over at ls1tech stated how well his have worked and how people tend to jump to conclusions at the drop of a negative thread.
He mentioned the whole bit about bad spring install and the proper way to drive and avoid WOT till things warm up.
He then started to comment that if springs were going to break that they would tend to break in the middle rather than on the tops like mine did.
Well he started to get nervous since the posts kept coming and stated that he was going to check his beehives immediately. Anyone want to guess what he found? A busted beehive.
