Lloyd Elliot Products
Re: Lloyd Elliot Products
Don't worry about me....
Let's all remember that untill good ole Mike started this crap with my pops this was a good thread about Lloyd.
Thank god Lloyd is more laid back than I am, cause I don't think I'd want to mess with him, I mean the man does have a grinder in his hands 8 hours a day.
I gotta say something good things about Lloyd too....
From the days of guys he formerly worked with talking smack about him and he never said ANYTHING bad back to them. That takes some real restraint, something I don't obviously have. I've only ever seen him tell one guy, "lets meet up and talk this over" when the guy had never met, or talked to Lloyd yet wanted to talk trash about him.
I'd also vouch for his dedication to customers, when I spent some time down on the ole Ranch in Red Oak, he spent a lot of time out of his day, stopped grinding and really helped guys out with their setups. Phone time costs you money, especially when it keeps you away from doing what you do that makes you money. Why do you think my number is not public.
One last thing that I really admire in Lloyd is his willingness to learn. It's a lot like Ayrton Senna the former F1 driver. That man never knew enough and he consistantly trounced people on the race track. The thrist for learning is the only thing that makes you a good in any part of this work, there might be schools like SAM out there but they can't teach you everything, and unfortuneately the only way you learn anything is thru a good boss or on your own. I have to say that Lloyd puts learning and turning out a product together more efficently than anyone else i've ever seen do this line of work. Most guys either just churn out parts or do R&D type development, not both. To do both takes a good balance.

Bret - Lloyd has my trickflows, and he said he will be talking to you about my cam (fully forged 383, -5cc flat top pistons) I can't wait to get it back together, and would be more than glad to post the dyno sheets for you when I get it done just so everybody knows just how "shady" and Effective your cams are, lol.

Yeah, NA. Like I said fully forged 383 w/ -5cc flat top SRPs. Lloyd is porting the trickflows I sent him and my intake manifold as well. 6 speed, going with a 9 inch moser w/ 4.11s. Pretty much got all the supporting mods locked down, NSA 1.6 Pro Mags, Morel Lifters, CSR Waterpump, Cloyes adjustable double roller, Hooker supercomp LTs, cutouts, whatever else I can't think of right now. Definately looking forward to it. Any ideas at what I am looking at, when I was talking to lloyd he said 450+ with dyno tune was reasonable, spinning it kinda high, we kinda figured about 6700-6800
Re: Lloyd Elliot Products
Can we get a MOD to delete these off-subject posts? Nobody mentioned you by name until you came in here causing trouble. I remember this issue was about 6 months ago, it has no relevance here.
Re: Lloyd Elliot Products
I don't know if he knew he was calling you out, but obviously you thought he was. Hell he has a bad case of CRS even on the $15K motors in the shop and who they belong too when they come up in conversation, I'm sure he doesn't really care who you were, other than the kid who didn't think his cam specs were custom enough.
That's why this quote is so clutch...
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."---Mark Twain
I almost want to say he is a prophet with that quote so early on in the thread.
Your right he is a old man, he's probably passed out in his favorite chair sleeping to M*A*S*H right now, not really concerned with you.

BTW I have no problem with any of these BS posts being deleted. I'm willing to admit I step out of line.

Re: Lloyd Elliot Products
God, I gotta get in on some of this fun. Most entertaining thread I have read in awhile. A couple of things first before I tell you about my experience with LE and Co.
There are some instances where I think you should pass a competency test before they allow you to have an internet connection. Some of the posters in this thread would fail miserably.
I spent 30 something years working for 'the man', kissing *** and worrying what I would do if I missed a paycheck. Years ago I chucked all of it and I TRULY, TRULY enjoy tell pompous, overblown, self-important gods unto themselves to pound sand. Makes me smile every time when I turn their business away. They can't understand it and never will.
Now the LE story. I have an Open Road Racer - '96 B4C. For those of you that don't know, Open Road Racing is when they close a state highway and run a rally type race for anywhere from 80-130 miles. We campaigned the car last year with some major handling mods but stock engine. This year we will be trying to average 140mph over the course with a max speed of 168 mph. Not to take anything away from you eigth and quarter guys, I know you punish your equipment. But think for a minute about doing it for 80 miles...........or more.
I contacted Lloyd via email in the Fall of 2005 about my special needs. He asked tons of questions as this was a new venue for him. We talked about average speeds, speed out of the corners, engine rpm's at various speeds, rear end ratios and more and more and more. I felt like he had a thorough understanding of EXACTLY what it was my special requirements were. I am local to Lloyd and had the pleasure of meeting him face to face to drop the heads and intake off. We went over everything and it was then that I realized not only was I going to benefit from his huge knowledge base but he had also talked to his machinist and Bret about these needs. So not only is Lloyd willing to do something special to fit my needs but he also brought his other guys in on it as well.
The car is at my engine builders right now getting the modified LE2 transplant. Am I confident I got the best deal for my money? Yep. Am I comfortable with LE and Company? You bet. When I picked the heads/intake up, Lloyd told me to have my builder contact him with any questions that might come up during assembly. Do I like his customer service??? No question there.
People vote their approval with their pocketbooks. Seeing the heads lined up in Lloyd's shop, waiting their turn, tells me yet again that he is turning out a quality product.
I know there are other places that turn out good products as well. I do not know if they have the integrity Lloyd does. My business is staying right where it is.

Re: Lloyd Elliot Products
Good story Andy.
I really want to hear how that setup turns out for you and I'm sure Lloyd does too!

I might add that to my sig!

My daughter said Lloyd reminds her of a High School Shop Teacher - I thought that was fitting and appropriate. I will certainly let you know how it turns out. We have a dyno tune slated mid March and then the Texas Mile ( www.texasmile.com) the end of the month for additional sorting out.
