I hate posts like these because it makes me wish I had the money to buy an LE package right now. Gotta keep saving. Arggggggghh.

Re: Lloyd Elliot Products

I would definitely vouch for lloyd being a great guy. Had my trickflow's and lt4 intake manifold ported through him as well as a custom grind cam.

He answered all my questions for months, and still does to this day if i ever need to ask him something.

I just did everything he told me to do with my car, and it came out perfectly, except for minor tuning and install related stuff that would have nothing to do with him that im still trying to solve at the moment.

other than that, lloyd definitely gets my recommendation for anyone that wants to get quality work done through him.

Only bad thing I have to say about either individual is that Bret needs to get a phone number so you can call him up and bug him, haha. Just got done installing a custom grind from Bret and fired it a couple days ago, sounds sick.

Lloyd has always answered all of my questions promptly, courteously, and completely even though I've never given him any business.

Asking is allowed....but getting answers is another story!

It's kind of like just getting three measurements on a girl...they don't tell you much about performance.

I watch the on-going contoversy on unpublished cam specs with some interest, some humor and some head shaking. It tells me a lot about how some folks think.

I recall a guy who purchased a custom cam designed for his particular engine, vehicle and driving desires. When he received it, he saw some of the specs like duration, lift and LSA and without installing it decided it wasn't "custom enough" for him and wouldn't work. I believe it was returned to the seller for a refund. Later on a nearly identical engine/vehicle/desires customer received the exact same grind. He installed it and got the results he (and the first guy) wanted. You should really date them before you decide if they can perform, guys.

There are so many lobe profiles available within a given duration and lift that even profiling or "Doctoring" the cam might not reveal the exact lobe number that was used. However, it has not been confirmed that even the machine operators who grind the "secret" cams aren't allowed to know the lobe numbers!

I understand wanting to protect one's intellectual property, which a custom cam might be considered, but sometimes what you know CAN "hurt" or at least confuse you. The customer described above is a good example. Then again, some guys would rather describe their girl as a 36C-24-35 blond just for bragging rights. Big numbers sell.

In my business of making custom precision parts to a customer's specifications, we don't necessarily tell the customer exactly HOW we made the part, just that it meets the specs. Results count.

My rambling $.02.

We now return to the regularly-scheduled topic.

Makes two of us. Knowing published numbers for a particular cam is a whole lot different than understanding what they mean or how they came about (i.e. lobe design). The aire of mystique appears to have some marketability on the internet...

Sounds like you only heard one side of the story. If you knew how many messed up things/lies your son told me, maybe you'd have a different opinion. There was more to it than not wanting the cam because it "wasn't custom enough"...I wouldn't do business with a "guy" (changed by moderator) like that if you paid me.

(comments removed by moderator. Keep it clean)

Keep your mouth shut from now on. Just my $.02 Old***troker.
Hmmm.

I don't recall referring to you, Sir.

We live in the area where Mark Twain spent a lot of time. He said a few things I really like:

"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."---Mark Twain

"There is no sadder sight than a young pessimist."---Mark Twain

Perhaps your ancestors knew Mr. Twain.

You may think all that babbling BS makes you sound "wise" or "intelligent", but all it does is make you sound old and uninformed...not exactly new territory for you though.

Re: Lloyd Elliot Products

I talked with lloyd a few weeks ago and was impressed within the first 3 minutes just buy the knowledge he was spewing out at me. I will be buying a head and cam package from him very soon to try and get my LT1 to run with my LS1.

Re: Lloyd Elliot Products

Dealing with Lloyd is amazing, I had a question about my cam specs and received a phone call within minutes of sending the E-mail.. at almost 10PM the man is still answering/replying to his customers... not only that, the man knows so much and explains stuff in a way you'll understand the "why" something is what it is...

Incredible For service like that I'll gladly keep my mouth shut on my cam specs... after all, I'm paying for it.. are you?

we don't necessarily tell the customer exactly HOW we made the part, just that it meets the specs
I can relate to that quote.. I work for a hard drive data recovery firm. The customer knows very little about what we actually do to get the data off the drives, most of it is protected trade secret. Such is business! If you don't like it, go elsewhere!
