Window Regulator Problem and Intro

OK, quick intro. I have a 97 Camaro that I bought new and it has been by far the best car I have ever owned. I have owned over 40 Camaros (1st Gen) and Chevelles since highschool but have recently regressed into hotrods and old school tech (flatheads with 3 two setups etc.) but am still doing alot of race car suspension work from my home shop on the side.

I have 110 thousand miles on my 97 and flog it daily. It has never let me down except for and idler pully disengrating on the highway. Today I got to work and went to roll the drivers window up. It made a quick grinding / popping noise while the window went up for an inch then the window quit moving and a steady hum from the widow motor.... Should I order a regulator assy or a motor assy?

Thanks in advance.

Since you still hear the motor humming, I would say the regulator or the gear assy went. Especially with the grinding sound you heard, sounds like gear teeth getting chewed up.

Just ran back out to her in the parkinglot and hit the switch. I can hear the motor hum but no window movement. I rocked the window (It is sticking about 2 inches up) and it seems to have more movement than the passenger side. I also pulled up and pushed down with soem force and it wont move either way? The motor would be easy to replace but what about the regulator?

I've never replaced one, so I can't help you there, but I'm sure someone else on this board can
