Intake manifold question

How important is the little shield-type thing that is bolted to the bottom of the manifold?? Quick answer will be VERY apppreciated.

Thanks

Without it you will be sucking in ALOT of oil through the pcv valve, so very important.

Damn, not what I was hoping to hear. I just bolted up my new manifold without swapping the old one on first... I'm assuming that bad things will happen if I don't take it off and put the cover on?

Probably foul your plugs, 02's, carbon up your pistons and heads, ect. Or you could just cap off your PCV system and run breathers, but thats not good for your oil since it will leave all the contaminants in the crankcase which will go into the oil.

It's a baffle for your PCV system and as already stated could introduce a fairly large quantity of oil into the combustion process.

Well, I successfully failed at taking my old one off. All I did was strip the dumb bolts. Can I order a new one with the hardware? I don't even know what the thing is called. Any help?

Also prevents hot oil from collecting on the bottom of the manifold, and heating up the incoming air.

Anybody? Will I have to get a new one from the dealer? What else can I do?
