Intake manifold to head port sealing question?

OK. I've seen a few threads lately about this subject. Apparently, many have issues with the intake gaskets not sealing if the heads and/or block have been cut. Is there any way to check this upon initial assembly? My block has been zero decked, but the heads have only a light cut on them. I'm using Cometic .036" head gaskets, and GM intake gaskets. The intake bolt holes all line up, and the end gaps look about normal.

The intake bolt holes lining up is a GOOD thing. To check it, take a pair of paper gaskets and using those, torque the manifold down. Then remove and check for a good pinch. It will be readily apparent if you're not getting a good pinch somewhere.

wow...I kinda thought I'd get a little more input with this. Especially since it seems so common.

I have never really had a problem.....I keep an old set of gaskets to check with first. But no problem up to this point
