I never had to use RTV around the ports. I ususally only put it on the front and rear of the block and half way up the head. Never had any intake leaks? You have to get the surfaces really clean befor you start laying rtv down. Are you torquing the intake in the sequence and to GM specks???

Front and back only, the other gaskets are dry. You do NOT want RTV inside the engine, so I'd suggest not trying it, to do a good job it would take you a very long time anyhow.

Do not put the RTV around the ports...it will harden, break off, and fall into the combustion chamber. Just put it on the front and rear of the intake.

Thanks guys, ya I know to put a healthy bead on the front and back, but this last time I had overtorqued the bolts, and it caused a small oil leak into the intake ports, which caused a little bit of blue smoke at idle....thanks, Luke
