My 1LE started ripping slightly where it fits to the throttle body and was always hard to get it on without the lip folding over (why it was tearing). Thicker rubber and more durable yes, but not a whole lot better than the regular stock elbow with the silencer. I bought a Trickflow and couldnt be happier. I wouldnt worry about "heat soak" either if you ever read posts about the subject. Until someone proves there is a decrease in performance (which I dont think is possible) there are no known disadvantages to a metal elbow over the rubber.

I dont' buy into it much either, granted my Trickflow elbow does get warm to the touch, the intake manifold heats as well so the incoming intake charge will get warmed up one way or another.
