Intake Elbow

My stupid intake elbow ripped, but I already got replacement. My question is can I delete that donkey dong air silencer thing very easy? Just take it off and plug the hole kind of thing or is there more to it than that?

Next time get a 1LE elbow. It does not have the silencer tube.

Ahh up until I got my car I didnt even know the silencer existed, now I know what the 1LE is good for heh. I got this one for $20 and it was an emergency fix, so I'll get a 1LE sometime. Thanks

Cool silencer option.

this is probably gonna sound cheezy, but hey it works! i took mine off, and installed a cap of a flat black spray can up underneath the silencer hole and screwed it on each side to keep it from falling off, just squeeze it on on voila!,be careful though if you desire another set up,there is alot of suction in that area,so you dont want to have anything sucked in to the "jet zone",good luck!

From what I hear, the 1LE elbow is thicker rubber as well making it less prone to tearing.

Or just as importantly, it doesn't leak air.

Not on a 93 car because your car is a speed density car. You may be sucking in dirty air though which is never good.

94+ cars have a (MAF) or Mass Air Flow sensor to read how much air is coming into the motor. The PCM then adjusts the fuel based off of these readings. So if you have a tear and are sucking in air after the MAF its going to hurt performance because unmetered air is getting into the engine. On a 93 the computer reads several different sensors to get an estimation of how much air flow is going into the motor and adjusts accordingly.

Dirty, unfiltered air is not a performance enhancer.
