Yup when I did my headers I also did the plugs - didn't replace wires though. I got a pair of MAC midlengths, and boy was that interesting, my car's a 97 and I converted over to a single cat with the 95 style headers. Had a few complications, but nothing that myself and a lot of help from a fellow cz28er couldn't handle.

Anyway, yeah hitting all the bolts with pb or one of the other penetrating oils will help out a lot, make sure you slide under the car and hit up the bolts on the collectors as well -- will make your life easier.

As for torque to spec. German torque specs work best with the limited space you have. Gut 'n tight.

Stage8s are nice as well, locking and after my first tightening I haven't had one come loose since. That was almost 3 years ago now.

Take your time, and make sure that you route all your wires when you're done very carefully to avoid burnt wires later on! Last thing you want to deal with is an Engine code with no clue that your O2 sensor wire is singed because you rushed to finish.

NGK TR55s will do just fine for your car, and Taylor wires are nice, as are MSD wires. You may not want to worry about OTVC wires since you're sticking with shorties, all the stock loom and bracket locations should work fine for you.

I went and got TR55 plugs and MSD wires today. Tonight i went to my shop and started taking off my manifolds. I got the drivers side manifold off in about 30 or so minutes and got all the passenger side bolts loose.
How long do you think it will take to put the headers on? Twice as long as it took to put them on? I took my headers up to get some new studs put in them and the y pipe flanges changed over to the two bolt kind and noticed that the y pipe i bought LAST week wont bolt up to the headers. And the guy said it is going to take 140$ to modify the y pipe. Does anyone know where i can find a one catted y pipe to fit my shorty headers?
thanks jb

well last week my factory cat went out on me so i just went and bought a new 3 inch y pipe that was same bends as factory execpt mandrel bent.
The drivers side looks like it would fit but the passenger header is at the completely wrong angle.

Might as well have the shop modify it then to fit. If you had a custom y-pipe made, that would cost a small fortune. I'm not sure if there are any aftermarket y-pipes that will direct fit the BBK shorties.

hey guys. i havent really had much time to work on my car in the past week. but this is what i have done. I have put on the drivers header with not much complication besides the third bolt from the firewall coming to the front of the car. I had to jack up passenger side of the motor to get the header in that side and the bolts are being a bit*h to get it.
I have replaced the plugs and wires but it looks like the wires are going to be close to the headers. How close can the wires be without being effected?
thanks alot for everyones help!

Just make sure the wires aren't physically touching and you should be okay. Cable ties are your friend.
