I'm an idiot, and I need some help.

Okay, here's the problem. While I was rebuilding my motor last week, I noticed my new stroker crank had a keyway for the damper. I figured it was probably a good idea to keep the key in there and just buy a new damper with the keyway cut into it. When I got the new damper this afternoon, i realized that it's over an inch to long. It bottoms out against the crank gear and sticks out way to far. Did I get the wrong part? If not, what can I do?

Oh yeah, the new damper is the same size as my old one, it just has the keyway cut in it. So I couldn't have ordered the wrong one! I'm confused.

Hard to rationalize those two statements... first, are you talking specifically about the damper "hub", or are you trying to assemble a complete hub/damper assembly onto the crank? There are two different hubs, one for the crank that has a crank sensor and one for the crank without the crank sensor.

So, what has changed? If your hub is the same length as your old one, how does it stick out farther? I'm confused too. You must be leaving out some details.

Sorry, I'm talking about the crank hub not the damper. And yes, the new hub is the same length as my old one. But it sticks out over an inch farther than it's supposed too. I know it's seating against the crank gear all the way. Is it possible my crank gear is messed up? Shoot, this doesn't make any sense to me either, maybe I just need some rest. I'll look at it later and let you know what I messed up on.
