i think my fuel pump is out this is my symptoms
i put a fuel gauge on my fuel rail and turned the switch on it didnt even have 5 psi and when i try to crank it it will run for a second and shut off .....when you have the switch on the fuel pump should be running right ?i should have a bout 50 to 60 psi ....am i right?
With the engine idling, the fuel pressure should be 43.5psi with the vacuum compensation line off the fuel pressure regulator (41-47psi is acceptable per GM), and when you reconnect the vacuum line, the pressure should drop proportional to intake manifold vacuum - about a 6-8psi drop with a stock cam, less with a more aggressive cam.
When you turn the ignition switch "to on", the pump will run for two seconds, and turn off. The pressure should reach more than 40psi on the initial prime, and then drop off very slowly when the pump shuts down. If the pressure drops to zero immediately, its either a problem with the check valve in the pump, the diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator, or leaking injectors or fuel lines.
