A.I.R. Delete
A.I.R. Delete
1994 Z.
Installing rebuilt engine (stock specs).
I want to delete A.I.R. Do NOT want to tune.
What is going to happen? Will it activate SES?
Can I attach a resistor, to make it think Electric Pump is present? If so, what value?
I seem to be getting inconsistent results while searching this topic.
Help is much appreciated.

Re: A.I.R. Delete
As long as there is a good fuse in the circuit for the relay, you can remove the entire AIR system, and no code. Only true for 93-95 OBD-1. In 96/97 OBD-2 there is a check routine run using the O2 sensors to pick up the increased air (oxygen) content in the exhaust.
The pump has no impact on engine performance. It only runs for a few minutes on cold start, to help the cat(s) heat up and start working.

Thanks!
I did see that you’ve answered this before.
It’s just that I contacted an “ LT1 Tuner” and he asked me if I had a ALDL Cable & Laptop (I do, thanks to you). When I answered that I have those, along with Scan9495, his next message was “250 for me to tune it”.
Fred, I REALLY appreciate all of the help you & GaryDoug have provided to me.

I understand that removing the A.I.R. system on your 1994 Z without proper tuning can be a bit tricky and may trigger the SES light.
Some people try to trick the system by using a resistor, but unfortunately, the success rate varies. I want to remind you to always exercise caution and be mindful of any legal or environmental implications that may arise from modifying your vehicle.
