so i was driving home tonight and all of sudden i can accelerate. I could down-shift and slow down but when i hit the gas nothing happened. When i got it stopped i tried to start it again but it wouldnt. It would turn over but not start.

At first i thought it was the fuel pump but i had a good 38-40psi of fuel pressure with the key turned over, good thing i have a fuel pressure guage. What could cause the engine to turn off like that when i was driving? When it happened i downshifted to pass someone and it felt like the car fell on its face. I dont think it has anything to do with the fuel system. I just had my spark plugs/wires changed 2,000 miles ago. Maybe the coil?

The check engine light, and check guage lights were on when i had the key in the forward position, but i think those are on whent he key is in the forward position right?

Thanks for the help, i'm sorry if i'm rambling on here but its my daily driver and i need it up and running asap.

 

Same thing happened to me man. Drove me nuts, and it turned out to be the crank sensor on the bottom of the timing cover. It acted up and then the motor just lost power compleletly. Give it a shot, its fairly cheap and could be your prob. Good luck. I know these things can be a headache....especially when ur car is a DD. Mine is also. I feel your pain.

Could be your ignition control modual. Def. sounds like the ignition system.

I had that happen to me when I went over a bridge once, tuned out to be the power wire from my ignition box to the bat had a bad connection about 12" back in the wire. Removed the area , walla.

 

will it throw a code if its either the ignition control modual, or the crank pos. sensor?

 

I didnt get any codes with the crank sensor. BTW the check engine light will be on when have the key in the on ignition before you go to start it.
