How much to get fuel pump installed?

Car going into shop, I think it might be the fuel pump, just wandering how much would it cost to get it replaced. Maybe if its to much I would do it myself?

Re: How much to get fuel pump installed?

Sorry, I've got some bad news for you, I had my fuel pump replaced about a month ago.... cost me 800 damn dollars. They had to pull the exhaust off and I think they have to drop the rear end, before they can pull the tank out of the car, just to get to the intank fuel pump.

Good Luck.

It will be high! You have a couple of options though............

1) Fork over the cash and let a shop do it,

2) Do it the right way like the shop did on his..........drop the tank (PITA),

3) Be lazy (like I would do ) search for the trap door method and do it that way.

Good luck at what ever you plan on doing.

Trap door is what most people do I believe...I know I did, w/o hesitation. Some people dislike the idea of cutting up their car, but I don't mind - now I have easy access to the pump should I need to replace it again or check for problems....I can't imagine getting everything back together then realizing I forgot to do something or have it not work if I had dropped the tank....
