If you have a shop do it then my guess would be in the $800-$1000 range. Now if you can find somebody local on this board with experience to help you out then probably considerably less... FWIW I helped a guy install his hotcam kit for $250 and some lunch/dinner.

Most shops around here charge $475-550 for cam and springs on an LT1. Which isnt bad seeing how much work it is.

If you have any sort of mechanical ability just do it yourself. I just recently did my cam swap myself. I had never done anything remotely close to this big before and it actually went real well. No problems with mine at all until I went to the track for the first time with the setup and collapsed one of my stock lifters....

It is very time consuming and you have toi take your time, but I would say do it if you have the ability cause it will save you a lot of money

CeeBee how bad was your damage? I am concerned about reusing my lifters on an upcoming [second] cam swap...

Let me know, thanks!

Well lets see, I revved to probably around 6400-6500 cause I didn't see my shift light turn on earlier so that was the first mistake. Basically what I think happened was that one or more of my lifters collapsed on the passenger side and then in turn cause one of the pushrods to actually snap in half. So it caused a good amount of damage. So now I have Comp R lifters on the way along with new pushrods. My advice to you is either buy the Comp R lifters OR when you get tuned don't have your redline set about 6200 or 6300 at most. (mine was programmed to 6500)

Hope that helps

Do you see any advantage to Comp R's over 'new' stock lifters if the shift point was no more than 6300?

How much is the full set of Comp R's? Part #?

thanks a lot

There is like a 10 dollar price difference between a new set of stock lifters and the comp R's so I see no reason to not get the Comp R's ever unless they are on backorder or something and you are in a rush. The part number is 875-16 I believe. Combination Motorsports has them for like 208 or so.
