How many bolts?

I'm pulling my transmission so I can change the clutch. Just wondering how many bolts hold the trans to the bellhousing. I've gotten 8 bolts out so far. HOPEFULLY that's all of them?

Haven't tried yet, but I did think that myself. Since I'm doing this job solo, I'm kinda afraid of the weight of it. It's not TOO heavy is it? I don't have a tranny jack...

the tranmission?!?

or the bellhousing?

the bellhousing shouldn't weight more than 15lbs...

my transmission with a t/c and fluid in it was a solid 175+ lbs

just use a floor jack under the pan....

It's a manual tranny, ain't got no "pan".

I'm thinkin' I better go find me a tranny jack. Might make things a LOT easier when re-installing....

There really isn't any flat spots on the bottom. It's V-shaped at the bottom.

Yes, it has fluid in it, about 3-4 quarts in there I drained out.

I did took my tranny out by myself... had a tranny jack but the seal blew and that was a royal pita.. anywho i got some boards longer than the width of the car and propped the tranny on those and put cinder blocks on either side to hold it up and had another jack under the front of the tranny.. then later you should be able to finagle it back in... but its gonna be hard... or the easy solution... go rent a tranny jack

T56 weighs 125# with fluid. You got all the bolts, if you counted 8. Don't forget to pull the clutch fork off the T/O bearing, or you'll never get the tranny out.... .

I got it out myself today. Let the jack down a bit to get some slack between the tranny and bellhousing so I could wiggle it around a bit and get a feel for the weight of it. Wasn't too bad so I yanked it off and rolled it off my chest onto the floor.

Not sure if I can get it back in myself, but possibly if I can make it on the first stab or so.

I don't think I have a leak from the tranny input shaft, it's the rear main. How does that come out? The clutch/flywheel has done a good job of flinging off the oil, so that's why it hasn't failed, but I'd like to get that changed before I put everything back together.
