Cam???????

K to all my helpful people (who's saved my life on a few occasions). I just pulled my motor and am gonna build a 383. Keeping the stock heads but puttin on 1.5 rockers what cam should I go with? I'm at a loss, its gonna be an everyday driver but I'm going with a 58 mm TB and a 2800 torque converter.

thanks all again and again. S.J.S.

XE 230/236 LSA 112 would be good for a daily driver and that convertor.

1.5 rockers???????
why?
I think with the 383 cubic inches you are going to need lift. although with the stock heads cut of peak flow at about 390 lift intake and 450 exhaust ( mine did anyway)

I would go with the 224/230 with 1.6 rockers.
or, the hotcam with 1.6 rockers. it would be slightly less powerful but more streetable.

I have the XE 230/236 with 1.6 rockers. but its powerband is too high for a normal daily driver IMO, comp cams says the powerabnd is 2000-6500 for it but it is more like 3000-6500.
Your stall is probibly too low for the 230/236 anyway.
Comp Cams told me 3000-3500 for that cam.
I think if you go with the 230/236 with stock heads you are gonna regret it.
