You are right. They are made for low impact collisions to save the front and rear skirt from damage other than cosmetic. However, I do feel that the front support could perhaps save your radiator at the same time. While they do absorb shock, I have serious doubts against their life-saving capabilities.

So you dont really know what weight reduction/addition will do to your car.
Let us know when you get that 383 in the 12s, we will be looking at 11s by then.
LT1derful didn't say that just removing the bumper supports will lower your et .4sec. He also said to try et streets/drag radials, pull the swaybar, remove the back seats, and so on.
I know from experiance that tires are good for .2sec. When your on street tires going to a drag radial helps wonders.
Removing the swaybar adds to better weight transfer which will help reduce your et.
Removing backseats, bumper supports, belt and so forth all adds up. And I belive there good for a couple tenths as well.
So there is your .4sec. He never said removing just bumper supports will cut your et. .4. But doing the above and learning how to drive your car better will.
Trey, honestly now you can't tell me that what I just stated isn't good for .4 tenths. Think about it and tell me that, tires, better weight transfer, weight reduction, and sharpening his driving skills didn't gain him what he said. he has no reason to lie.

Well, obviously since he's never ran his car, he wouldn't know. Funny, he's arguing with someone that DOES run their car. And...it's not printed in Super Chevy...must not be true.
Ran my car with and without the belt; .22 sec different 1/4 mile. It's about like having an electric water pump and doing the alternator relocation; except that you can't drive your car around like that, lol.

nuff said....No need to start talking **** trey.
Just becaus we are from SC dosent make us rednecks, there are rednecks in china. And just becaus your from michigan dosent mean your not white trash and everyone there has faster cars becaus everyone in the US gets the same performance parts, dosent matter which company they order from.. Why do you got to make insults?
People do whatever they can to knock of an extra tenth. It may call for hacking off a little safety or emmissions feature here and there and if your willing to take a risk or loss its all up to you... Its not like we are hacking off fenders, hoods, body parts, or ditching our car stereos. I dont even agree with removing some of the things lt1derful mentioned like the sway bar, but it does work to better E.Ts, especially in conjuction with other things he mentioned.

Oh really! Thats cool, so next month when I get my electric water pump, new opti, and new coil/wire ill go to the track and do what weight reductions I can and pull the belt I should see my 8.7 drop a few tents. Ill only do that if my new clutch is in. If I saw my 8.7 turn into a 8.3 or better id ****! I run about 82.5mph now so if I do tho's things how much mph should I pick up? What was your 60ft on that 8.7? Mine was 2.08x so almost a 2.1. With my bad clutch, I could possibly see a 1.9 right now with a better clutch witch would net me somewhere in the 8.5's with no weight reductions. Sorry, im just starting to get wild up at that thought of running in the low 8's because for the longest time I thought my car was just slow.

Trey loves when we chit-chat in the "tech forums"...
How does that 1/8th mile conversion work?
I ran a 9.582 @ 73.11mph with a 2.126 60' with the carb 305.
Then with the TPI on the 305, I ran a 9.297 @ 79.52mph with a 2.335 60'
What would my 1/4 mile times be?
