How to beat '03 Cobra building on my mods
Re: How to beat '03 Cobra building on my mods
Here in Jacksonville, there's several 11/10 sec Cobra's. Every one I've known of around here has(or has had) nitrous on the car as well as the typical bolt-on's. Compucar's bottle in a bag kit work's WONDERS on a Cobra. My friend's car went 10.9 @ 128 I believe with the small jets.
Anywho, that's modded Cobra's. My point was not only LT1's can use nitrous. Hope you don't run into any Cobra's with a kit on them.

WELL LETS JUST SAY GM DECIDED TO ADD AN EQUIVALENT SUPERCHARGER TO WHAT THE COBRA CURRENTLY HAS INSTALLED. WHAT WOULD BE THE RESULTS?? WOULD ALL THE SS OWNERS BE WEARING SNAKE SKIN BELTS AND BOOTS???
Re: How to beat '03 Cobra building on my mods
It's funny how this thread has gone from talking about bone stock Cobras to talking about how to run with 10-11 second cars.
Can we get a few more irrelevant responses...

to answer the question in the original post, a good heads and cam package with all the boltons, and a good driver, should get the job done.
to answer the question about putting an equivalent supercharger on the lt1, i think the stock cobra would have a pretty hard time keeping up.

Yes does anyone know how to convert their auomatic sprinkler system to spray kool-aid?
But seriously i was wondering How I can learn to properly tune/mod/drive my LT1. Do I buy a book?

Yeah, i think it's as expensive too.
I think the guy's name that ran the low 7's is Trey Harmen or something like that. I don't know him personally but my friend who's a mustang guy(don't get me started it's a sore subject) talks about him a lot. There's a black 03' that runs 7.6's at 96+mph(that car is nuts too)and a blue 03' that runs 7.8's@91. The blue 03' has been wanting to race me now for a while but it hasn't happened, and right now my engine is apart and there's 2 feet of snow on the ground.
There's a guy locally, I think he's from henderson kentucky that has a bottled/blown Z06, 4200 yank convertor in it. I think it's supposed to put down 670 or something to the wheels. It was supposed to run 6.8's at 100+mph on drag radials. I haven't seen that car but my friend works at AutoZone and the guy was in there looking for some fuel cleaner, I guess that car sits alot. He ended up going to see Vann, the local vette guru at northside to fix some other problem the car had, what it was I don't know, I know a guy that works there, and was there when they went and test drove it. The car is nuts, it should be though.
There's also a purple/blue Z06 running around, I am pretty sure it has the ligenfelter charger on it, it's got that freakin big hood and the car sounds like it's going to suck small children and animals in.
I tried to race a yellow Z06 earlier this year, some old man driving it, all he kept doing was flashing money in the rearview mirrow. I don't race for money so that race went away.
Time for a few more mods, and this time I might even put the 2nd piston ring in the correct way.

Re: How to beat '03 Cobra building on my mods
I seriously doubt you will be able to hang with or beat a cobra ( if they are a decent driver) with anything that keeps ya emissions legal. I have a pretty extensive amount of mods included head/cam package plus all the other horsepower addons and I doubt I will hang with any slightly modified cobra. Those things are just insane. It's hard to compete with a car that is built from the factory with a blower and puts down 400rwhp stock. With that being said, good luck on your adventure.
