The CC305 is a step above the Hotcam.

If your putting a new piece in dont bother just sit pretty till your piece is done. unless your motor wont be done for years and years. like most people building engines.

I did the hotcam install with over a 100 thou and now have 149 on the clock, still running strong. If you took care of your motor you shouldn't have a problem.

I'll chime in because I probably have the highest mileage. I just installed LT4 Hotcam, 1.6 comp pro-mags, Mac mids, MSD OTVC wires, AIR!, EGR!, EVAP! and an LS1 driveshaft at 170,000 miles. Runs like a brand new car and is pretty fast. I love driving it. Real quick from a stop. I would definitely do it. Your mileage is not really that high.

i use the cc305 it doesnt abuse valvetrain parts(i use the 114 LSA). dont forget new springs. stock springs are good for stock cams only.

If "snareman" wants feedback from "reamo04" at this point, the best way would be a PM or e-mail. At least it appears he used the "search" feature.

Hey man, i ended up never even going with a hotcam. I now have a cc503 on the way, going back to all motor for a bracket setup.

hell i did it on my 154xxx motor and it runs great go for it you won't regret it also if you are doing your 383 the setup should definately last those 2 years and most likely more.

I went with a MUCH bigger cam then the hot cam. Had 99k on it when I did the swap. 5 thousand miles now and it's still running like a top!

How many here just did the cam and maybe heads but kept the stock manifolds (not headers)? I ask because there are just no good options for a CA car when it comes to headers. I'd like to get at least 340 rwhp out of it (automatic) and pass emissions (CA). Is this possible?

With a good running LT1 you may be able to hit the 340 mark on a mild cam and some decent port work. Through an auto trans it won't happen with just the Hotcam though. Mine made 339.xx at the wheels on a mustang-style dyno - no head work and no headers but it was w/ a 6-speed.
