I like the mph you guys are seeing with stock heads and the hot cam, but my best right now with boltons and 100-150lbs knocked off is 12.5@105 with a best mph of 107 which is a better than a few of the hotcam cars i am seeing. Why the mph so much higher than my car but et lower? could someone explain why this happens?
Umm, you're running Nitrous. So, if you didn't run Nitrous you would obviously run a slower time. Add a better cam to your mix and you'll run quicker. Then add Nitrous to the cam and you'll run a lot faster then what you do now.

i would hope its possable cause im trapping 109 with a high of 109.78 with simple boltons and no RRs, and stock TB and if i went with a bigger cam i would hope to see atleast 2-3 mph for all the work

Its nice to see some more people from missouri on here. Those are pretty impressive times and MPH from an Lt1. Is it stock? Cause your running what I run with the hotcam.

So why is my car so damn slow?

My best time was a 13.7 @ 101 MPH, which I ran consistantly. This was before my 3200 stall, but I still had all my other bolt ons with the Hot Cam Kit. When I made these runs, I still had 3.73 gears as well. Well, when the gears went bad I dropped to a 3.42. THEN, my BEST time became 13.9 @ 97 MPH I have always been cutting consistant 2.0 60 foot times, but I don't understand with all my mods how I'm running STOCK Camaro times

Wheelman, how heavy is your car, what altitude are you at? I'd get the car scanned to see if you are showing any codes...

I'd be very disapointed if my car was running those times with all the mods you have... Something is definately not right there!

at 41 last year a friend with the hotcam ran a 13.3 at 112 followed but 2 consecutive 12.8 runs at 112. And besides the cam he didnt even have that many bolt ons. shorty headers catback and FIPK. 114 is fast, but easily beliveable.

I'm not sure of the exact weight of the car. It can't be much more than stock. I take my sound system out of the car for the most part when i go racing, also the spare and jack too.

I live in Illinois, so I am right around sea level. I wish i could attribute my times to altitude.

It seems like I have checked over everything, I dunno where else I can possibly look for problems.

I cant understand why your times arent any better wheelman. My brother has a 94 Z28 and the only mods he has are 3:73 gear, a msd coil and a custom airbox. He was runnin 13:40's all day long at us41. How far away from Lockport are you? Maybe I can scan it for ya.

How does your car shift wheelman? Are the shifts real firm or sort of delayed some? Maybe your tranny is taking a crap on you.

Good Point Drew

One thing I notice about my car is the shifting at WOT. While normal shifting is smooth and crisp, when I'm at WOT, it is much different.

When the car hits around 5800 RPM, the car seems to coast or drop power until it hits 6200 RPM, then it shifts. For that small window of upper RPM power, I believe that is where my power loss is occurring.

So my questions is, Motor or Trans? I personally belive it is the trans (having scanned everything possible in terms of the motor, fuel, ignition, etc.) What does everyone else think?

I actually purchased TreyZ28s race built trans in hopes of a solution to the problem. I guess that will be the deciding factor. The car is getting pretty bad gas mileage too right now. Any thoughts?

Just a thought, How is the fuel pressure at that high of RPM's? Do you have good pressure or is it dropping off? I had the same problem with my T/a after I added my Hotcam and other mods. It felt like it started to fall off or loose power around 5600 and found out The fuel pressure was dropping.

Yeah check the fuel pressure that could be a problem. Have you had your car dyno'ed yet? If not i would try that. You would be able to see exactly if you loosing power at a certain rpm. It won't really tell you what your problem is but at least you would be able to know for sure if your loosing power.

Yea, I checked Fuel Pressure and Fuel Volume at the high RPMs, everything was normal. I even replaced the fuel filter and made the sure the Fuel Pump was flowing properly.

I'm thinking the problem is the the Trans. I will see how the car performs when I go to the track with the stall, and again when the Race Trans is put in.
