Hooker Long tubes Any rattling?
Hooker Long tubes Any rattling?
I am planning on buying a set of long tube headers this weekedn and i want to get hooker super comp long tube ceramic coated. I see thta lots of Lt1 guys own these. Does anyone have any problems with rattling or any banging noise at all. I cant stand exhaust rattle and if i have to go with shorties to get away from it then i will but I would rather have long tubes. Let me know of any rattles you long tube guys have. Thanks
Some people complain about false knock with LTs, but never the Imp guys(?), I'm sure people will chime in on this. I stuck to shorties, but I live in Crapifornia.
Contrary to what many people seem to think, shorties dont suck that badly, there are over 400 RW stock bottom guys on shorties. Me, being cheap, if I can get some good shorties for near half the cost of a Hooker and Y pipe setup, then I dont know that I'd do things differently now that I am playing with more than one car. If your money saved goes towards a cam setup, you'd make more power than just an expensive header setup.

The slip tube for the #1 primary rattled like hell on my car. It was just a **** poor fit between the two parts. Dont try to tell me "You didnt install them right" because they only bolt onto the head one way
They also seemed to amplify valvetrain noise alot on my car. It sounds like a woodpecker under my hood when I pull into a parking garage or drive-thru. I thinkthats because of to the thin metal they use for the primary tubes. Its 18 gauge where most other headers are 14 or 16 gauge. Of course if you run an deafeningly loud exhaust like most people here you'll never notice.
