Agreed. You can mess with your wire routing, or get fire boots for the plugs, but I've heard too many negatives about header wrap.

Re: hooker long tubes

Had same exact problem with 8.5s, had to run some extra firewire I had laying around to run the wire from the opti around the outside of the headers straight to the plug. Running it underneath just burns that #5 again and again...No problems since.

why is that? Header wrap does a much better job of insulating than ceramic coating does.

We had to make the switch in our turbo racecar because ceramic coating just wouldn't cut it. it really sucked

Header wrap has its place, but in most cases there are easier ways not to burn plug wires.

Re: hooker long tubes

A friend of mine has BBK's on his car, and also had trouble with one of his wires always getting burned, so he put header wrap around that primary... to me it smells like something is burning when you put header wrap around there, anyways he some how got oil on one of the wraps around the header and his engine bay caught on fire one night, good thing i had one of those small fire extinguishers on hand that night

Re: hooker long tubes

I am running Hookers with the Taylor Over the Valve Cover Kit. I love them. The kit keeps the wires totally out of the way. I have pics on the website in the sig if you want to take a look. My car is the first one on the home page. Let me know what you think.

The farther you can get the wires away from the tubes, the better off you will be.

Good luck,
BIZ

sorry no pics, but the setup i have now is actually 7 of the accels and one custom made taylor. the taylor is on the #7 primary bc none of the accel's were long enough for me. i just ran the wires to where they wouldnt touch anything that would make the leak any electricity. its not the prettiest but it works.
