Unhappy

If there is anyone at all still out there reading this bullsh*t, I would like to list all the stuff that has been replaced on my car now since I have been trying to solve my idle to 2000 RPM hesitation probs:

Coil, plugs, wires, fuel filter, IAT sensor and EGR valve.

Next on my list is to clean the MAF sensor, add a bottle of injector cleaner into my gas tank, and if it is still there then I will replace my O2 sensors.

If the problem still persists then I will look at sensors such as the TPS, and MAP sensor.

What could I be overlooking?

I am hoping the O2 sensors fix it.

I did notice a considerable improvement in throttle response with the coil and EGR valve swap. But it SILL hesitates, more like a bog though.

I agree with Grip on this one.

Change your entire fuel rail and injectors with a friend's car.

Otherwise its your fuel pump.

I haven't seen anyone change their fuel regulator and injectors yet.

Question

Hi, I have a question to all that are having this problem....what kind of gasoline are you runnin in ur car? When I first purchased my car about a month ago, I put 87octane in it...and it was hesitating really bad, and idling up and down(almost rearended someone because of it), and it totally embarrased me at the dragstrip ....but then i was told i was only supposed to run premium gas in it(yeah i know i prolly should of known that at first..but i didnt i went from driving a cavalier z24 to a z28 ...big difference)...so i started puttin that in it, and it seems to run a hella lot better now it hasnt hesitated at all....also have a question...what are your average miles per tank of gas? I have a 94 Z, and I have been getting around 240 per tank...
yeah its 3:30 am and im typing this...so dont mind me if i dont make much sense..haha

thanks....

Thumbs up

Hey mycarused to have that. I have a 93 z. I bought a 95 opti, msd 6al ignition box with blaster coil. It still ran bad but much better than it was..Looked at my number 6 and 8 cylinder wires.(i have 409's) first in the dark and they looked like fire. Checked them out the next day. Installationofmy edelbrock headers burned the wires in half. Ran the wires over the valve covers and down with heat tubes.Car has never ran better. No hesitation whatsoever.

Heath, i didn't read thru all the posts but...on my ol' '93z 4a, it wouldn't run over 4400 rpms, it turned out to be a clogged cat. I'd love to get my hands on one of these cars to play with and check a few things... but, i'm just starting to understand my beast. just when you think you have it figured, it bites you in the A$%! ...smile...

clogged cat.... been there, replaced that.

trust me, your hesitation is not from a clogged cat, or you wouldn't have been able to rev past a certain rpm.

my hesitation is getting worse and I think my opti took a crap again. (just replaced it a month ago....)

Nope.

I was thinking about starting a part 2 of this thread where everyone with the IDLE-2000RPM HESITATION PROBLEM could reply and let others know what they have replaced.

This thread has got all clogged up from people butting in and trying to bring up sh*t that the thread is not about.

Too many people have the IDLE-2000RPM HESITATION to let this topic die, and I don't see this thread going much further.

Heath said he had a problem above 4500 rpms...as i recall, "key off above 5000 rpms". worth a try. If you have a quick way to get the cat off or bypass it just do that. we checked by putting a dollar bill close to the exhaust pipes on bothsides while one of use reved the engine while in Park. Only lite exhaust flow came out. I apoligize, i haven't read all of this long thread yet.

Heath, i just read thru your posts. you said when in neutral or park it revs fine. I don't think you have a clogged cat. you miss out under load, leads one to believe it's ignition. can you light throttle thru 5000 rpms to redline?

sure can! hold first gear to 6000 if accelerating slowly and rev in nuetral to 6000 but under torque or load it falls over at 5100, CALM DOWN 95 Z28 LT1 i have the idle to 2000 miss also but also over 45-5000 that fugging sucks
