HELP!! Squeek wont go away!?!?
HELP!! Squeek wont go away!?!?
I cant get rid of this squeek!! First off, I bought a brand new AC Delco belt and a gatorback belt, newer alternator, new tensioner.
With the Gatorback belt at start up it, it sounds like its "chirping" then when i start to give it some gas its just squeeks and gets louder. Everything seems to line up. If i take the belt off and start it, its quiet and nothing wrong. I put the belt back on and spray the A/C pulley with some stuff made to make the squeek go away. Well, the sound is gone for about 10 seconds then comes back! It seems like the inside belt (belt side closer to motor) is getting a little chewed up. Could this mean some pulley isnt lined up right?
When i put the AC Delco belt on, the squeek is just loud at all times. What the heck could it be!?!?! It makes me wanna drive around without the belt just not to hear it. Any help i appreciate

One of the accessories is probably not rolling freely or as freely as it should and is trying to resist the belt rotation. Would be nice to have a selection of belts so you could test it with one accy left off at a time.
Try feeling each accy without the belt on by hand and see if you can feel any rotational resistance.

i did take the belt off and tried each pulley. The alternator spins, compressor spins, tensioner, and p/s all seem to spin freely. Does the p/s pulley have a tiny bit of play in it? It seems like it can go back and forth just a hair.
I mean if the belt is getting a little chewed up on the inside, wouldnt that mean something is mis-aligned? I do have the alternator flush against the acces. bracket, and everything else seems to be lined up.
How come when i spray the pulley the squeek goes away? Man this thing is annoying!!

wow this is weird. Since my alternator was still under warranty (3 months old) i returned it and got a new one. I put it on and it started to squeek again. I took it around the block (i got on it pretty hard because i was angry it was still squeeking!) and now it hasnt squeeked. KNOCK ON WOOD
I had it sitting and work today and made sure it wasnt because it was warm. I started it cold and no squeek!? Drove it around, no squeek. We'll see in the morning if it does it or not. I still wonder what it was????
