Help Me! Codes, Maf! Please

Ok so heres the thing, a long time ago I descreened my MAF, and well anyway did plugs wires, and all that fun stuff, start my car idles weird for a sec then idles normally, check engine light comes on. Itsd throwing two codes 48 which is something about the downshift of 3-2? And the second code was 84 meaning Mass Air Flow System Failure...where do I start? What to do???

You have the codes backwards.

48 Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor circuit

84 Skip shift solenoid circuit (manual transmission) or
3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit (automatic transmission)

You neglected to say if you have a 4L60E or T56.

I would start by checking the pink wire on your MAF for 12v when the key is ON. Check fuses, too, if needed.

Its a T56, but it was originally an auto. As for the codes all is well, no more check engine, I had a wire break off on the MAF and it wasnt making connection. As for the shift problem I guess its where the tranny has been switched.

Side note: Thanks for the response shoebox, you seem to be one of the geniuses on the board and I appreciate your response and eagerness to help. As for my car its ok now. Thanks again shoebox
