You can CONVERT to an HEI setup. Just have to pull the intake and have a shop machine and weld the intake in the back to accept an HEI distributor. Not really worth it though. Change plugs and wires first, then suspect the opti.

will do, wires and plugs are going to be changed ASAP. I say it acts as if it's not getting enough spark due to the fact that she stutters off the line. She jumps and hesitates, i suspected something to do with fuel at first, but it's not that or the MAF. My next thing is timing, i think it's behind. Thanks

AFAIK timing cant be off unless your chain jumped a tooth and that probably isnt the case since I've never heard of that happening on an LT1. Its all in the computer. Unless your timing was reprogrammed in the PCM, its just fine. The drivetrain is mostly computer controlled.

how does it run at Wide Open throttle?most sensors are shut off at WOT so if it runs well, then its most likely gonna be a sensor. I suggest you check the EGR first since its stumbling and thats usually the problem AND its easiest to diagnose. Id tell you how but gotta go back to work.

i asked my mech, today, about this whole thing. He said that when the kid who owned it before me did the test pipe thing and never got the O2 sim's that he put the PCM into "Fail-Safe" and that is why it hesitates now and when i get to 4 1/2 RPM that it does not open up anymore from there to 5 1/2. What you guys think? He drove it and said he would bet on it... Thanks, Nick
p.s.
will this O2 sim work?

Since we both have 96's and none of my exhaust is stock I think I might be able to clear this up.

Ok O2 sims for removing the cats right? I dont have sims or anything for my 2 rear O2s, only extensions for the front ones in the Longtubes. Plus I have an SES light for removing my AIR and EGR in addition to no cats. So this issue has nothing to do with your O2s unless the fronts are malfunctioning. Look somewhere else for the problem.

When you took your O2's off did you "service engine soon" light come on? I was told that if that light is on that the PCM will go in a fail safe mode, do you know anything about that? How did you get your light to go off? Thanks, Nick

Yes the SES light came on and is still on. The PCM doesnt have a "fail safe mode". Theres a "limp home mode" (a default speed density mode) if you disconnect your MAF but no fail safe mode. The light goes off when someone removes the program from the computer. Madwolf here on the board is our programming sponsor and can perform such tasks but I'm going to have to live with the light (doesnt really bother me right now) or have someone local reprogram the PCM because I cant afford the turn-around time.

I paid $495 shipped for my Jet-Hots last summer but the price has gone up some but not much.

EDIT: Since you're REALLY new to LT1s and seem a little unfamiliar with modern engines and their operating systems, I advise you to sit down and just read the threads on this forum. I spent 25+ hours and 3 days just reading old posts 2 summers ago when I got my Z. In those 3 days I learned more about the car and cars in general than I had the 15 years prior when I learned what a car was at age 2.
