Lightbulb H-bearings vs. Regular Clevite 77 bearings...street/strip...

Talking with my engine builder today, he told me that:

Clevite 77 H-bearings cost:
~$50-60 rods
~$60 Main

versus regular Clevite 77 Bearings:
~$22 rods
~$22 Main

This is going to be a daily driver for the most part, but will see quite a bit of track use until I get my mustangs togother and running, which won't be for quite a while.

Other components are Scat9000 crank, Forged 4340 I-beam rods, SRP pistons, ported heads/intake, headers, cam unsure ATT.

Is the extra $80 for H-bearings worth it? Or should I just stick w/ the Regular Clevite 77's.

Thanks!

I'm building pretty much the exact same motor right now. I just got the regular 77s. From what I understand they should hold up just fine to what I plan on throwing at it. The H series weren't worth the extra money to me at this time.

Talk to Scat to be sure, but most aftermarket forged cranks have larger radius fillets and therefore need a bearing with an enlarged chamfer, like the "H" series. My guess is that's what you need.

What's the common bearing for a Cast crank?

H or P

Any disadvantage to running a P or H?
