guys with MAC headers - what kind of cat are you running?
guys with MAC headers - what kind of cat are you running?
And what exactly are the measurements?
I ran a MAC hiflow cat (single) in my setup, but it didn't quite align/fit right and I had exhaust leaks hissing up the wazoo.
Now I'm about to look into getting a cheapie catco, but I want to be SURE it'll line up right so that it won't leak.
What kinds of cats work well for you guys? I haev a mandrel bent i-pipe which I'm sure is aftermarket (no crinkles), and lokos about 2.75" in diameter..
and where can I get some cheap cats? Is it easily weldable by a shop to the MAC headers?

Is your cat welded into place right now? The MAC Y-pipe should have a male ball/flange connector at the back, and the intermediate pipe should have a female ball/flange connection. If that is the case, you can make one like I did. I did find cheaper ball/flange connectors at www.drgas.com

Re: guys with MAC headers - what kind of cat are you running?
thanks, stereoman dan!
Nope, its just bolted right in, because the MAC hiflows come with the ball flange in back already. I still have the ball/flange connector somewhere in my closet - but if i can't find it, any exhaust shop should be able to fabricate it, right?
anyway, thanks for the help.

im running the stock cat. just gutted, i was sort of dissapointed with my macs...i had to take and get a new peice welded onto my stock cat, and then bolted that to the y pipe...

I just had an exhaust shop gut the cat, then run a straight pipe through.
The look of a cat without the restriction.

When I first installed my MAC's, I used one of their "Off-Road" pipes with my cut-out welded in it...I never had any leaks with it. Then when emissions time rolled around, I had a cat made the same length and identically flanged on each end as my ORP. Neither leak, and I can swap them in about 20 minutes. This arrangement makes it nice because I was able to buy a cheap $70 3" cat. Flow isn't really important because it never stays on the car very long.
