Exclamation Got my Jet-Hot Coated MAC Midlength Headers. Pics Inside!

My awesome wife got me these for Xmas. I guess I must have been nice and naughty. Not just naughty.

Here are pics of the headers. The coating is beautiful. EVERYTHING is coated inside and out(Headers, Y-pipe, flanges...)

The collectors looks great. The only thing I am wondering about is if it is worth while grinding out the extra weld material at the ports. Could you look at the pics and give me your thoughts? In most spots, the weld sits 1/16" abouve the surface. I would do it for sure if they weren't coated, but I'm not sure about grinding away that nice coating at the welds. What do you think.

Overall, they look GREAT and I can't wait to get them on the Z.

Here are the pics.

No, it's the '94-'95 single cat style.

Thanks.

Why does everybody go with the single cat setup? Did you need a s pipe or anything like that for it to work?

No, it doesn't affect the flange at all. It just sticks out into the tube diameter a little. The weld is inside the tube.

96redformula7,

People go with the single cat style because the headers are longer for the single cat versions. The '96 -'97 style have shorter headers because one of the dual cats is up in the drivers side so close. If you are going to use your existing exhaust, then you need an S-pipe. I plan to swith to a hooker '94-'95 style cat back, so I won't need the S-pipe.

Way to go Dan!!!

Who makes the y-pipe? Can you tell us how much the whole setup cost??

I think we should all pitch in so you can do a before and after dyno run so we can see how much difference they make!!

I wouldn't grind anything with that coating though. It's not going to hurt you that much.

Thanks Steve! Yeah, I really want to do a before and after dyno on these. Right now all I have is a K&N FIPK for my engine mods, so it's pretty much stock. I would like to get a dyno run of my current setup and then after I put in the full exhaust. (MAC Headers, Y-pipe, Single High Flow Cat, and the Hooker Cat-back).

I have to find a place near me that can dyno the car.

The whole setup cost $544 shipped to my door direct from Jet-Hot. www.jet-hot.com That is a GREAT price in my opinion. That includes everything pictured. The MAC headers come with the Y-pipe, so everything in the pics is from MAC, but coated from Jet-Hot. They have a $25 coupon if you buy headers before Dec 31st!(The $544 was with the coupon) They even got them to us on Christmas Eve. They must have went out of their way to get them out that fast because my wife said that they had told her it would probably be a couple of weeks.

Thank you Jet-Hot.

Hey, I see you're in the Saginaw area. I know of two shops with dyno's that perform good work. Pro Flow and Detroit Speedworks. I am going to have Detroit Speedworks dynotune my car as soon as I can fund it.

Anyways, if either of these places interests you lemme know and I will find the contact info for each.

Do you know what they charge for a dyno run? Not a dyno tune, just a dyno run.

Thanks for the reply.

Ya'll aren't asking the right questions!!

Does she have any sisters?!?!?!??!?!!?

kidding, man, those pipes are going to look great on the car. I would contact MAC and find out what nearsighted employee was working that day in QA, bring those pics to their attention and see what they respond with, also, let them know that you posted the pics on this forum, so they know it's public, usually they will try a little harder to hold up their rep when they know it's out in the open.

good luck!

Dan I have these headers and y-pipe on my car and me and my buddy installed them so if you have a questions pm me or email me at olaftheswedish@aol.com and I can answer any questions you have if you have any. I love the headers and I could def. tell a increase in power and a more throaty sound after the install. Good luck.
