Thanks, but I'm fully aware of that thread. In fact I had copied that thread while it was still current. However, that is very old and outdated info. IOW, no longer valid. Has anyone tried that source lately? Like I stated, I have hit dead ends.

Question

arnie,

Timken can't supply you with a bearing??

I'd think that if anyone had one it'd be Timken...

MG, this NTN mfrd. bearing is not your average looking bearing.

Edit: Actually, not being available, may be a blessing in disguise. With the oem bearing, the housing bore needs to be resized to bearing. Having to modify a std. bearing, allows one to size the OD of the stepped 'liner' to the existing bore size of a given housing. That I consider easier/less time consuming to accomplish, than boring out housing for a liner. Follow me?

No Shoe, I guess it isn't. It's just outdated.

Edit: About the time news broke of an aftermarket opti replacement in the works, NTN stopped honoring/filling orders for the bearing from schmucks like me. Coincidence?

Info presented by Dynaspark on LT1 Edit, and I believe here as well.

Early bearing?

arnie
Yes, the 'early'[as in for UNVENTED opti] bearing is not available.. [it's different than the vented opti bearing]
I do have an idea in mind to grind the lip off the housing and use a larger 'available' bearing tho...
[It's on that endless 'list' I have of things to do... anyone else have that prob?]

Dah! Right!

?? Oh, I take it, you are referring to the 'early' design here. Cuz, on the vented hsg. you still need the shelf to seat bearing, and need material to support the pr. fit. in hsg.

Has anyone used this product for an extended period of time on thier car? Ie 6 or more months?

How many miles do you have on this Billet Opti?
Do you drive your car in the rain?
Any issues or concern?

Does anyone know if this product comes with a warranty?

Thx,
Claude

I've had mine in over six months. IMHO, after examining the materials used and build quality, it should perform as advertised. No, I haven't torture tested mine to see if it would fail, but it is clearly superior to the oem opti. Is it a perfect aftermarket replacement for the oem opti? No, but is very good.

How many miles would you say that you have on that new opti?

Anyone else care to share?

Thx again,
Claude

I have fewer miles on mine, but I have driven in heavy rain. I have no problems whatsoever. To tell the truth, I would even wash the engine if it got dirty. It looks that well sealed.
