Is this a good rotating assembly?
Is this a good rotating assembly?

I want to slowly start putting a bottom end together for my car. With 100,000 miles on my stocker i know i am living on borowed time. Is the kit above a decent kit? I really dont know much at all about rotating assemblies, I plan in having a machine shop assemble it for me.
Goal for the car is to stick with my current heads and cam and rev to about 6500 rpm.

Re: Is this a good rotating assembly?
not a bad price, but note that it is a cast assembly and not forged. it won't handle the HP of a forged, so you might want to spend the extra $500 in case the mod bug gets you and you want power adders like big N2O shots.
Re: Is this a good rotating assembly?
If I ever do anything more to a car it will just be a bigger cam, never plan on going the power adder route.
Is there any problems with using a cast assembly but forged pistons? Like this auction?

If I never go with a radical cam is a 383 even worth it? Chances are I will stick with the top end that I have and not change cams, the car isnt an everyday driver, but it does see a lot of street time.
One suggestion made to me was to use a stock crank and rods, but get some good forged pistons? Would that work for what I want to use the car for? Want to be able to safely and reliably see 6500 rpm and stay on 91 pump gas.
