Good choice w/ the CC305. Has great low end, and good top end. A good friend of mine has the 224 / 230 and wishes he had gone w/ the CC305 because of the better low end grunt. The 224 can (and I say CAN, not will) give you better top end, but only if you do dual coil springs, which will more than likely require machining of the heads so the springs will work. My recommendation is get the EX612 springs and the CC305. w/ single coil springs the steep rates of the XE grind cams are more likely to cause valve float in the higher rpms, that's why so many guys' power curves fall off so quickly after 6000 rpm. Go w/ the 305 and LTs, that's what I have, I'm peeking at low low 12s once I get some gear and that's through a 3" exhaust. Stock heads.

the reason the curve fall off is not because of valve float its becuase of the steep ramps 52 degree on the ex cams. and the 306 has 62 degrees and the 305 is prbably about like the 306. the steeper the ramp the the sharper the curve falls off. but the steeper the ramps the more low end torqe. the ex grind cams are great cams make good all arround power and great drivability.

the less steeper the ramps have to rev higher to make peak power.

If you go to my web page... http://www.geocities.com/max_wylde/12SCNDZ.html And click on '93 STATS AND SPECIFICATIONS, you'll find a very detailed parts list for my engine, including part numbers. I bought all the parts seperately at my local Chevrolet dealership...Which is also a performance parts store. My cam was somewhere in the $230 range. The HOTCAM kit comes with Crane produced rockers that are identical (mechanically) to their "Gold" rockers. I wouldn't trust the valvesprings from the HOTCAM kit. The CC305 has a little more lift. I know my springs are Crane double springs, but I'm not sure of the exact part number because they were installed by the machine shop. I know they're good up to .600" lift. Everything else in my valvetrain is COMP CAMS.

As for "low end grunt" look at the way my car launches (In the pictures) with a completely stock suspension...LOL.
