well after my mechanic replaced my opti i got it back to day drove it to lunch, fine and drove it home fine. Bleed the coolant system, started fine, went to go back to my mechanic to pay the bill, got her up to 4 grand gettin on it bit and the whole car dies out and now its doing the same thing all over again. My mechanic said that the new cam dowel pushed the pin part of the opti loose the in the housing of the whole thing and i had a dark rim around the metal disc with all the slots in it that the optical lense reads it i guess when i torqued it to the specs it was enough anbd then just driving it the first night probably pused it far enough and then the next day it just completely F*ck it all up...so now the car is BACK at the mechanics and hes gunna take alook at it, God ive got so much time and $$ in this POS, but i really don't care anymore im to tired to care at this point, i just wanna sell it and go and get basic training done with and get me a LS1 Trans AM....NO OPTI BABY HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!! thats ultimately (i feel in my opion) whats driven me to insanity with this thing, f*ckin A i HATE the optispark!

 

Am I understanding correctly that the cam dowel being too long was discovered with the first opti? Was it corrected before the second one was put on? Doesn't sound like God had anything to do with it.

 

God doesn't hate your car and don't even say something stupid like that. God LOVES F-bodies and we all know that, if he didn't then he wouldn't have given us the 350. These cars rock, and the only cars that I'll ever buy will be an f-body. When your talking about a real performance car your going to have problems. Look at all of the Ferrari guys, those cars always break. I've put in close to $8,000.00 dollars in my car since last september, some problems(I'm on the third opticrap) others mods but please understand god does not hate your car, God hates Ricers becuse they take econamy and then call it fast. I'm sorry but you just kinda hit a sore spot. This after I finally got my car goin' and started it with open headers. (best dang sound ever)But if you want to go with an LS1 then go ahead and enjoy your PISTON SLAP. In the mean time I'll be cruisin my 355 and cheap mods. GOD LOVES ANY CHEVROLET!!! Shoebox: Yes it was discover with the first (the first new one i got) when my mechanic tore it apart he found that that was the reason, first they put a little paint on the backing disc to make sure that the dowel was hitting the opti and it was too long, then they ground it down alittle (1/8 in)or so so it wouldn't hit it when they reinstalled it...
I burn rice too: Trust me man i've been with this thing for a while GOD really doesn't like my car, or me, or maybe both...I NEVER should have sold my mint cond. 89 IROC-Z (with only 68k on the ticker,loaded 1 owner too the car was like brand new)

 

wrong, God hates my car, popped the head gasket after 200miles from a heads/cam install and destroyed teh bearings.

You all are crackin' me up. And you don't need to grind the pin, it will press in to the cam. If you install a "hot cam" in say an L98 this is all you have to do, press the pin into the cam, you don't have to grind on it.
