Gmhtp Wants To Hear From Lt-1 Owners!!!!!!
I honestly see less and less LT1s everyday...If I do its obviously by the looks or sound of the car not driven by an enthusiast. The track usually gives you a good idea of what people are driving. My last few times out it looked like a LSx meeting(and Im talking the first couple years the lsx came out). LT1 guys were jumping ship left and right as soon as the newer cars were turning damn near 12's and trapping atleast 5 mph more in stock or close to stock form. The cars are very similiarly priced, and im not sure about anyone else but Id grab a 98 over a 96-97 for a same/similar price everyday. The magazine spends alot of time @ etown and other local tracks and they see whats popular. If you wanted to sell mags and saw a ton more LS1s there what would you write about. Id take either platform in a second just trying to give some insight on where I think the mags comming from. How many l98 bolt on write ups do you still see...probably none because the bolt on performance of that engine isnt impressive these days. Just evolution, soon as the 5th gens come out you'll start to see the LSx crowds get smaller and smaller because the enthusiasts will want the newer/better model.
Also, you can find pretty clean LT1 6-speeds for about 3500-4500. Good luck finding an LS1 6-speed for anywhere close to that (that is not a run down bucket of bolts). And hey in your mind $4,000 more to get the LS1 instead might not be much, but to a lot of people that might be a deciding factor.
They are still MANY MANY people that have and enjoy/modify their LT1s... are you freaking blind? Look at this board. Nobody here is arguing that the LS1 f-body is faster than the LT1 f-body. You are the only one that keeps repeating that.

I'm VERY IMPRESSED with the amount of views and the people that are passionate about there LT1's. I'm 39 and this is my first EFI car and I LOVE it!!!!! If it wasen't for this board I woulnd not know where to get my info on these cars,GMHTP doesen't do it!!!
I guess I bought the car because the price was right, and it was close to a first gen engine. Now i know A LOT MORE about them and still don't want a LSX. I guess what i'm saying is that it still feels like old school, but with a laptop.LOL!!!
BE SURE TO EMAIL RICK AT GMHTP, to tell him how you feel.

Depends on what you mean by "a few years ago..." If you just mean w/in the last 2 or 3 years that statement is as false as the day is long. The LTx market exploded in the mid and late 90's with Craig Gallant (GTP) as the flavor of the decade.

You hit the nail right on the head. The traffic on this board is almost non existant compared to ls1tech,ect. To have so many members of a board that basically centers around one engine has to say something..
I sent them my email. I think it is more than just LT1's that are being left out. I said as much in my email. If people feel so stringly then they should email the mag. That's the only way things will change. By complaining on here no one will chnage anything. Send the emails!
What I'm getting at, is that a lot of the project LT1s put together in these mags are...well...slow. Yes, it's nice to have street-friendly cars, but when that gets all up in the way of it being fast, what's the point?
Yea, there have been some extremely fast cars in that mag, like Brady's 96 Z. However, anything stroked with a twin turbo setup is going to be fast. Why not some more features on truly impressive NA LT1's like the one that belongs to that guy "526 SS 96" or whatever on here? 500 NA rwhp out of a 'streetable' 355 is more impressive to me and has been done way fewer times than the high-zoot blower and turbo setups everyone seems to like to talk about these days...
amen brother! at least car craft and chevy high performance did LT1 articles for their january/february issues. the last time they talked LT1 was in a crate engine article where it showed most engines and their builders.
