Funny lookin gunk on oil cap...help

I went to add some oil in my car today because of the infamous LT1 leak. I took the cap off and on the inside of the cap there was some greenish looking gunk with some bubbles in it. It was also around the oil filler tube as well. Thats the best way I can describe it. I smelled it and it had a gas smell. What could this be due to and is it bad? My car only has 51k on it so hopefully nothing is wrong. Thanks for the help in advance.

Its moisture. Wipe it out and if it doesn't come right back don't worry too much about it. I have had it show up a few times on mine. I left the valve covers off overnight one time and a bunch of it showed up.

but, if you wipe it off, and it comes back really quick, you have an intake leak. But if it doesn't come back quickly, its just normal moisture that your engine makes naturally turning that fuel into water and hydrocarbons.

If it is jsut the water, it comes form making short trips around town. TO get rid of ALL of it, run an "oil system cleaner" right before you change your oil You can find them at parts stores.

Another alternative is to run the engine for an extended period of time to heat the oil up and evaporate all the water out.

Make sure your PCV valve isn't plugged up.

I will check the PCV valve and monitor how long it takes the crap to come back. Thanks to you all for the help.
