HERES THE ORGINAL POST
i searched and read for 20 mins , seems i can't find a nswer to this one.
ok my setup is 2 255lph intank pumps. my nitrous pump works fine. the factory wire harness pump is the only 1 with a issue. so i thought i had a bad pump swapped plugs on the pumps. 2nd pump worked just fine. so i went to the relay. orange has 12 coming in ray has nothing coming out. to get the wire harness from the relay to the pump checked , i cut the wire coming right out of the relay and checked voltage there, nothing. bought a new relay and installed it expecting it to work, nothing. there is not a signal on the gray wire what so ever. i also made sure i had the ohm meter hooked up before i turned the key (knowing the prime signal is only a few seconds long). ok so what other signals is the relay counting on to send power to the gray wire. i also ohmed the ground wire to make sure it was good. i even added a jumper ground to the pump harness at the tank. still nothing, now if i bypass the relay with a keyed source out of the fuse block , the pump primes. so in my thoughts i have a issue in front of the relay that is not supplying a signal. is this correct for all 5 wires. gray-fuel pump/ orange-12 volt source/ black with white stripe-ground/ red-fuel pump prime / green white stripe-fuel pump relay control in pcm. so what else could not be sending a signal?

Update
UPDATE
the fuel pump started working for no reason. i sealed up the tank and now it decides not to work. i asked myself what i changed. the only thing different was the fact i unplugged the ALDL cable. well i plugged it back and turned the key and the damn thing worked. unplug the ALDL cable and it won't prime the pump. WTF could cause that ?

2nd update
if i leave the ALDL cable hooked up ,within a few secs (10 or so) the relay will start clicking off and on rapidly. i just traced the green/white wire to the computer and used the ohm meter .4 res on it . i then swapped the computers out (96 factory ecm) and thats not solving anything. so some where i am not getting a signal the relay needs to activate. any ideas?
Once its running, the PCM should supply the signal. It will drop the fuel pump out for certain codes, like loss of high res pulse from the Opti, or a gound or open on the white wire to the IC Module.
Are you sure the ground on the signal side is good?

the motor is out of the car. with the ICM unplugged will it still look for a signal from it just to prime the pump? i'll go out right now and splice the black/white ground coming out of the relay and ground it to a factory ground at the kick panel. it has to be something simple, i'm missing. if all else fails can i bypass the relay with a toggle or a wire to a 12 volt switch source? will bypassing that relay conflict with any other signals to the pcm or create any other issues?
ok you keep this up and i am going to paypal you some money. thanks for the help fred
i guess the ground wire was to weak to function correctly. i jumped the relays gound to the chassis ground beside the kick panel. now the pump primes when you turn the key.
NEW ISSUE-- when i am allowing the pump to run (doing a prime on a open fuel line to get the old gas out of the tank) and arm my nitrous system (switch for nitrous also arms second pump intank) the fuel pump relay goes nuts and starts clicking off and on. could this be just a lack of voltage?
the way i have the second pump setup is a fuse block infront of the cd holder. supplying the 12 volt source to the 2nd fuel pump's relay and 12volt switch source to the toggle, for the system to arm the relay. so its not attached to my factor harness in any place , at all. thats why i thought it might be a voltage issue.
thanks again fred for helping
