Fuel pump going south????
Fuel pump going south????
What are the symptoms of a failing fuel pump? Sometimes when I start my car,
it seems that not enough fuel is getting to the engine and I have to hold the key turned for a little while longer for it to finally run. After it gets started, the rpms drop below 500rpms like its going to shut off then it rises to normal. At stops the rpms drop below 500rpms then goes back up to normal. This only happens sometimes weather its cold or at operating temps. Anyone knows the deal with this??????

Check the fuel pump pressure. Check it against specs with the engine running, and also check to see how long it holds pressure after you shut the key off. Rapid pressure loss at shutoff can indicate a problem with the check valve in the fuel pump, or faulty pressure regulator. This can cause hard start problems.
