my friends got a 97 trans am lt1 and when he tries to start it, it starts sometimes but then shuts off like it is out of gas we changed the fuel filter and found the relay and its clicking so its working but what else could be wrong with it. b/c the fuel pump is a pricey fix.

 

Put a fuel pressure guage on it and check

 

Have you scanned it for codes?

 

Do the 2 things suggested above, then report back.
